I looked around for the answer to my problem...but no luck...(which must mean I did not look in the right places )

I use TES4Gecko quite often to merge mods and merge my project pieces to master when ready.

I usually clean my mods 'by hand' in TES4Edit...but decided to try cleaning with TES4Gecko. Problem is the program freezes while loading the Oblivion esm...at around 80% and throws off an error message about being out of memory.

I am using a Windows 7 64-bit OS.

Advice, help, etc.?

I get that too. I'd just stick to TES4Edit.

I don't remember where I read it, but there is a memory switch you can add to the target path for Gecko. I think by default it uses only 512, but you can increase it to 1024.
In fact, now that I think about, unless the the has been purged, there is one here on gecko by the creator.

Do you mean "heap memory"? If so, change your setting to 1536, the maximum, workable setting you may use. I set mine at 1536.

I had exact the same problem, I fixed it by creating a folder called Tmp in the C:\ and placed TES4Gecko.jar inside it. Then run the TES4Gecko shortcut from the TES4Gecko folder you downloaded .

I figured it because the shortcut pointed to C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -Xmx1200m -jar "C:\Tmp\TES4Gecko.jar". The first part is a reference to use java and the second for the .jar file.

I am also having problems setting up Gecko on win7. Tried your method but there is no javaw.exe in my system32 folder, there is one a few folders deep in the java folder but can not get a shortcut to work with it.

Figured it out! Woo Hoo! javaw.exe was located under windows\sysWOW64 instead of windows\system32. An easy fix to the supplied shortcut.
