Getting knocked down

That's random, but if you want to stretch things a bit than sims 2 and 3 did.

Yeah, but that's sort of the central theme of those games. I'm wondering about it just as an extra feature in some sort of RPG, like how romance and eating/sleeping is tagged onto some games.

It seems pregnancy has a lot of untapped potential in the games industry.

It has to be in Skyrim, It was in Oblivion, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be there? I also want to see knocked down effect do falling damage, not only when you really fall of a cliff when getting knocked down, but also normal knock down effect on downhill.

Just to join 2 topics together here..wouldn`t it be crazy if you could get knocked flying by a pregnant Troll? :toughninja:

Just thought - Do Trolls have women? I mean is there like a Mrs Troll kind of thing?

Read the article on combat from GI, lots of interesting tidbits related to this there.

"If you're not careful on defense you may get knocked around, losing your balance and leaving yourself exposed for a damaging blow that can turn the tide of the battle. Knowing when to block, when to strike, and when to stand your ground is key to prevailing in combat."

Losing your balance and leaving yourself exposed is nothing new. Just like in Oblivion, if they parry your strike, it sends you off balance and you stumble back for a second or two, giving your opponent an attack or two to hit you with before you recover.

I'm looking for something MUCH more than this.

except that that thing with water is probably the most unrealistic effect EVER.
who the hell can keep their eyes open with there's water literally hitting them. what would be more realistic is if the character had trouble seeing because of it, not just water flowing down

but I get you point. camera effects are really a nice thing for immersion

It's not unrealistic in Crysis, because your player is wearing a military suit and helmet, meaning the water is rolling down the helmet.
And I'm not saying that the game should use that effect, I was merely using that as an example of what I mean about environmental interaction.

I for one think it would be pretty cool (although extremely doubtful) if they added in audio sounds for your armor and helmet. Let's say you walk under a waterfall wearing a big, heavy set of armor. It'd be pretty cool (although not necessary) to be able to hear the water hitting you. These are the kinds of things I mean by "environmental interaction".

Only if it's in first person. I hated it when Oblivion zoomed out on me, even when I was just sitting down...

Without a doubt, I don't want there to be ANY instances of the game zooming out on your character (except maybe like in RDR when you stay still for an extended period of time, and the game shows the landscape).

Or if you block a really heavy hit from said creature with your shield, your should hurt your arm, like limb damage.

I also think you should be disarmed by big hits, or if you have a low strength and/ or a heavy weapon.

I don't see how limb damage could NOT be in the game, seeing as Fallout has it. Also, if you hurt your arm, after a while you should be unable to lift the shield/weapon, or anything over X weight (depending on your strength and the damage taken). When you hurt your leg, you should limp (at minimal damage), stumble (at medium damage), and barely be able to walk (at critical damage). This would make it realistic, and it would also make it important for you to have a horse/whatever they put in for transportation so that you can get to a city to be healed if you're seriously injured.

It has to be in Skyrim, It was in Oblivion, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be there? I also want to see knocked down effect do falling damage, not only when you really fall of a cliff when getting knocked down, but also normal knock down effect on downhill.

Once again, this was NOT in Oblivion. You would slide back, or you would stumble backwards, both about the same distance. It was terrible.

Also, they need to make it so that enemies don't do that ridiculous glide backwards when you attack them. Maybe they could show gashes in clothes/light armor, cuts open up, and dents in heavy armor.

I agree. If a giant hit me with a damn tree, I don't want my character to just make some sound. It should either result in a damaged limb, and/or my character should be thrown back some feet. I think this should happen in thirdperson, as it would be confusing to suddenly have your view tilted upwards.

While I respect your opinion, I disagree. I think that if the game were to svck you magically out of first person and thrown you into third person for an animation, and then it throws you back to first person, that would seem very gimicky and would HUGELY ruin immersion.
