Getting a new staff

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:42 pm

Hi everyone,

I am now Arch-Mage of the mage guild but I'm not happy with my staves. The one I created originally only had 20points Frost.

Is there a way to get a new staff? I have about two others (staff of worms, staff of sickenss) from some Necros.

Can I enchant a new one, or is the only option to buy Apotheosis?

Without PC mods, the only staff you can influence the enchanting of is the one you get early in the MG questline. Some of the goblins carry fairly good ones, and you are already aware of Apothesis. Sorry.

Thanks for the help.

Any tips to get the $10,000 septims I'll need? Arena, maybe? I hear you get $3000 a match if you are the champion?

If you're on the consoles then I'm sorry, you don't get to make another staff. There are a couple of quests that give out staves if you haven't done them already, and there are some great ones out there as random loot. Usually in the cold hands of liches, heh.

Looks good. Never found it before.

And I'm on PC, but don't much like cheating (I only use the Comand Console to name my horse :smile_wink:)

Will get to start on Rockmill. Thanks :)

Dungeon diving, like hazmick says, is good.
Umbaccano's quest can be lucrative (and fun).
Alchemy is great because you don't have to worry about finding high money merchants to buy a single expensive item - just sell loads of homemade potions from wandering around gathering ingredients or 'harvesting' farms.
Collect those low-level soul gems and light weight junk like copper rings. Enchant them with anything you want and sell them at a huge profit.

Make sure of course that you're not spending all that you make too. Don't pay someone to repair or recharge your stuff for example. There are plenty of free places to live with safe storage so you don't really need to buy a house if gold is tight. Only buy the lowest level of spells, and then use those effects to create custom ones.

Get you level to around 25 and start takeing them from Litches. I've got a barrel in my house just loaded with nearly 200 Staves.

Another thing with a destruction based staff. Make a custom "on Taarget" spell that has weakness to the effect(s) at 100%, Weankness to Magic 100% and soul trap. All effects for 3-5 seconds. Damage will be amplified 4x with a single cast, 16x with a double cast and you can feed souls into Azura's start to keep it powered. Such a spell turns Apotheosis into nearly a cheat weapon that is able to one shot Gloom Waiths at level 45+ at default difficulty.
