Obviously show your devotion by crawling the entire distance to her house, and then carry her everywhere aftterwards!

Yeah, chicks love bloody knees!

I would just have a friend Give you a ride and drop her off. What as your plan for the date, anywho?

Actually walking is the only method that will not be replaced (unless you watched Wall E...). besides I don't think a girl wouldn't date a guy simply because he doesn't have car (considering he CAN'T have the car yet...)

Try living in LA and walk all the way from Palos Verdes down to Santa Monica Pier and then come and tell me what you just said. . .

:P

Unless the girl lives in his neighborhood, and is going to the community pool for a date, walking is out of the question. Public transport or borrowed car is the best thing he can do.

I'm wondering, why is a car so important for a date?
I've seen this in many american movies, but I always thought 'it's just a movie'.
Is there more to it? Do one really need a car to impress a girl? Is that 'common' in some american villages or cities?
If so, then please undestand my lack of understanding, at my place a car gives you absolutely no advantage for a date.

Now I'm really excited to hear the answer, I always thought thats some kind of urban legend :).

Wait until you get your car back or get a ride. No need to get upset by not being able to do it now, you've got plenty of opportunity. As much as I hate this band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67xwjPF6kYo

Why not just borrow your parents car? Surely your car is not the only one in the family?

Borrow your parents car for the evening? Offer to fill 'er up afterwards of course. Or do they not have one?

EDIT: Damn you Marduk.

Also, I'm not sure why you need a car to impress this girl (some sort of macho-male thing perhaps?) but if this girl requires her BF's to have cars, is she really that worth it? I'm not questioning your preferences, but I know if any girl basically required me to have a car I wouldn't waste my time. I have a vehicle but still.

Ofcourse it's not necessary. Just convenient. Public transport isn't all that romantic. And walking is too much work if you're taking a girl out somewhere nice. I mean, she's most likely wearing high-heels. It would be tough to walk all the way from a suburban area to a cinema in heels. Not to mention, if it's cold or raining.

I always just let my parents give me a ride to my girlfriends house and we...hang out for a bit and my mom picks me up. She doesnt drive either and I'm 17 and shes 16 so neither of us have excuses, both of us are taking drivers ed this spring at the same place (romantic right?). One time though, my mom gave us both a ride to the movies and it was the most awkward 10 minutes of probably both of our lives :P luckily as soon as we got out of the car we both burst out laughing so its all good...just never doing that again

My mom drove me and my girlfriend to our first date. It is indeed somewhat awkward-made-suicidal when your mother insists on pounding her with questions the entire 15 minute ride there

Oh God, see, my mom doesnt really talk to my friends so they probably think shes weird but thats fine with me. Instead though it was dead silence with very soft country music playing in the background and my girlfriend hates country music :P

So you both go to the same school? Which means you both get out of the same school, and at the same time, right?

If so, meet her after school, at school, then do something close to school.
