Is there any way to fix Combat Enhanced's impale CTD? : III

I just installed Morrowind fresh with only that mod installed and the CTD was repeated. When you perform the "impale" move with a spear, it works perfectly for a few seconds. Then as you walk away, it crashes without fail. I've seen a few other people talking about this, and the official "Morrowind Enhanced" forum died shortly after that mod update was released.

How have so many years gone by with such a glaring error without any fix?

IS there any fix?

People are starting to move away from using MW Enhanced because its considered too unstable.
