Any way to alter character in Daggerfall?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 4:38 am

I'm an argonian custom mage who has 1.75 x Int magicka...I'm level 8, and at this point I'm really wishing I would have taken 3x Int modifier...with only 1.75 spells like Spell Reflection are impossible and always will be unless I spend a ridiculous amount of time or money paying the trainers or spamming training spells.

But I'm so far along in the game that I really don't want to start over, I really like this character...I just wish he had more magicka. His INT is at 90 right now and it's 157 or something like that. Destruction, Illusion, and Restoration are his highest skills, and Alteration, Thaumaturgy, and Mysticism are still rather low since I don't have enough magicka to cast any storebought spells from those schools, and even the ones I do have enough magicka for, I never use those spells anyway.

http://www.uesp.net/file.shtml?dagger/files/dfhack.zip may be of some help. I've not tried it, though.

Thanks, I think I'll try this.

While I was looking around I saw mention of DaggeD and DF-edit. Any news on where to get these, especially DaggeD, as it seems to be able to do what I want?

The best editor is DagHex by Lord Oberon. I uploaded it to the UESP a while ago: http://uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files
It's there under save game editors.

Cool! Will it work with Vista and an all-patched-up Daggerfall?

I have only ever tried running it in DOSBox, Win95 and DOS.

I'm assuming you're running DF under DOSBox. Run DagHex in DOSBox too.

Ok, so...how do I work it? I downloaded it, and the text file that came with it doesn't have anything on how to run it. I tried just clicking on the application and nothing happened. How do I use it with DOSBox? My knowledge wit DOSBox goes only as far as running Daggerfall...

Install DagHex to the same directory as the DF executable. In DOSBox, navigate to the DF directory. Then instead of using the command to run DF (eg fall.exe z.cfg), just type:
daghex
and it will run.

Thanks!

Okay, apparently I'm still not getting it. The only commands on DOSBox I know are the ones to get Daggerfall playing:

mount c c:\dosgames -freesize 1000

mount d c:\dosgames\dfcd -t cdrom -label Daggerfall

C:

cd\dagger

dagger

So, what do I do differently with that to make it Daghex? I put DagHex in the dosgames\dfcd\dagger folder.

better put daghex in your c:\dosgames\dagger folder and type on startup in the last line "daghex" instead of "dagger".

Well, looks like you put daghex in the wrong directory.

Oh, beaten to it by MrMuh :)

I was wondering if that was the problem. It works now! Thanks again!
