Re-Nuking

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 11:21 am

After reading the Van Buren page in the Fallout wiki, I noticed how several of the things in there have been duplicated in 3 and (especially) NV. One of the more interesting things in Van Buran I saw was the re-nuking. How many of you would like to see that implemented?

I would love to see the WBOS sneak a nuke into the NCR Capital. Just one, I think thats all it would take to thrown the NCR into a chaotic civil war (as if there's some other kind)

Unless you're a pathetic human being who has no real concept of the soul and likes the idea of further torturing humanity when it's already been crippled so severely, then I see no point in it.

Also, the last thing we need is Fallout: Micheal Bay, and seeing EXPLOSIONS EXPLOSIONS EXPLOSIONS!

Just to clarify, wasnt the 're-nuking' set to be at the end of the game, after youd done all the good things to make the area a better place (or bad things to make it worse) then you were faced with the decision of which places to save from the nukes, and which would have to be sacrificed?
I dont think it was intended to be a 'cool' explosion, more of an excruciating decision.

That just wouldn't happen. I don't think their feud runs that deep that they would resort to such drastic measures, like killing 100s of thousands or maybe even around a million people. There are some zealots in the Brotherhood, yes, but I don't think that would happen. If it did, I'd be annoyed.

For the original thing, no, that's a part of Van Buren I never want realized. We don't need re-nuking to make the game feel more apocalyptic, just uprisings in the current major governments causing instability. That's the best we can hope for with the "must move forward" doctrine at Bethesda.

I get where the idea comes from though.. if society rebuilds its self too much, its post-post-apocalyptic.

if games didnt jump 50 years here and there and rather changed locations, then i dont think that rebuilding would be point of contingency.

At least there was a reason for blowing up a nuke in those games. There arn't any nuke throwing 50 foot robots in those games and hand held nuke launchers.

On topic. No I would not want that ending of Van Buren to happen at least not anytime soon. I believe Fallout was going to End with Fallout 3 aka Van Buren and then there would have been alot of spin-off prequel games.

If the Fallout Universe was going to get nuked to hell for a second time, I want it to be that the nations once again started building nuclear weapons and "war, war never changes" comes full cycle yet again.

Read "A CANTICLE FOR LEIBOWITZ" BY WALTER M, MILLER, JR. The Devs of Obsidian should know that book well. Look up Abby cut from Falout 2.

Fallout 4 was confirmed to be thought about during VB's creation and Legion was supposed to be very important.

They're at a state of war, and almost certainly under siege in their bunker.... They don't produce any food. They're gunna get hungry eventually, and when they do, they're gunna get desperate. Desperate people do silly things.

Though they are absolutely enemies I don't think they are actively at war at New Vegas' point in the timeline. They may run into altercations (Helios 1) but it's not full scale war. Also, there are people like Veronica who "get the groceries". I just don't think the situation is or will become bad enough.

the NCR don't know they're at hidden Valley.

Lost Hills however is public knowledge and on the Caravan Circut.

More nukes = more win!

I was pretty glad when I first discovered the Fat Man and Mini-Nukes in Fallout 3. I certainly hope there will be more nukes, and different variants (like even higher yield nukes) in Fallout 4.

Assuming there'll be vehicles, I could see this at being greatly possible. Or, even simply having access to a silo that could launch an ICBM(s) to any target you desire on the map and completely wipe it out and turn it into a hotzone.

The Fallout series is all about the aftermath of the last conflict from a protracted Nuclear Era . Nukes were such a way of life before most life got ended on October 23rd, 2077. Small nuke generators powered buildings, vehicles, aircraft, spacecraft, etc. Just makes sense that all the Fallouts should reflect this.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Bethesda comes up with for Fallout 4. Especially after seeing Skyrim, I'm totally stokked about Fallout 4 now! :celebration:

Nah, I want to see the Fallout Universe moving foward, re-nuking just means returning 200 years in the past where everyone is waiting in tempting fate
