Is it normal in Daggerfall to...

be sent to the same dungeon for multiple guild quests? I went to a dungeon to kill a wizard for the Mage's Guild, and then I was sent to the same one to find an ingredient for a temple, and then I was sent there again to kill an atronach for the Mage's Guild.

Exact same dungeon name, same map, different monsters. Weird, but at least the last 2 times I was already somewhat familiar with it!

Yep, it happens. I don't know how many times I gone to Castle Necromoghan in the Daggerfall province, for example. But lots and lots of times.

I have had a couple quests so far in privateer's hold. It might be tied to your level and what guild location you are questing with, some guilds may favor certain dungeons.

It was a tough dungeon...I was about level 5 or 6. Lots of pits and submerged places (required to go through to access key places) and spires, floating platforms, moving bridges and everything. Very magey. Theodyrick Laboratory, it was called...

Castle Necromoghan Freeman and the Fortress of Gaersmith are particularly popular ones.

What about Skous? I got its location from a map on the body of a wizard I had to kill. It seems an intriguing name, and I'm curious to see what sort of dungeon it is.

I'm currently at a place called The Fortress of Gaerfield. Is that the one?

I remember its name because I chuckled at the thought of running into an orange pot-bellied cat.

If i remember correctly skous is really small (just a few rooms), its just a little tiny dungeon in a swamp

Not only is it possible to get multiple quests involving the same dungeon, it's possible to get multiple quests involving the same residence in the same city. I received a Fighter's Guild quest that required me to travel to a specific residence in a specific town to kill a woman't undead husband, who had become a zombie and was rampaging through the house. I completed the quest, and then later received the Exact Same Quest. I was even able to verify that, as the residence already was annotated on the map from my efforts to locate it during the previous quest.

I'd had the same thing with the mages guild in Penwold. Every time they send me to a house in the city it's the same one. They've had a kid let a dragon loose in there, they've used it as a testing ground, etc. It's a bit silly. It's also right next door to the guild. They also send me to the same dungeons again and again.

Hehe, I've had that Theodyrick Laboratory a couple times too. It's a neat place. Much more fun once you can levitate.

There's a dungeon in menevia that features four liches near the entrance, no matter what level you are... and its fairly common that they send you there for random qeusts if you are adventuring in the region. Two of these liches are in the same room, it also has a few other liches spread through the dungeon. Being sent there at a low level is sure harsh... but its doable if you are REALLY smart about how you do things.

There's also a certain large tomb in Menevia you can be sent to, but its fairly rare. Finding any quest item there is tricky. All in all, Menevia is a tough place to adventure in.

Nah, it's Gaersmith. However, Gaer- is one of the prefixes used by Daggerfall in location and Breton names, so I'm not discounting that a Gaerfield may exist. The one I've been to has one of those large open elevated rooms with the small door in the center.

Been there. Done that. Got lost!

This dungeon is proof as to why the 'follow left wall' is a general rule!!!

Why always the left wall? Outside of Daggerfall, when it comes down to navigating anything, people always tell me the right.

I use the right wall and sometimes break off and explore on my own.

I just set my anchor near the dungeon entrance and go wherever the heck I feel like. Usually turns out pretty well. With Recall, I might actually explore the rest of the dungeon even after finding my quarry instead of frantically trying to find the way out again.

I use the "same set of wall and floor" textures method myself. These texture combinations define the blocks used to create dungeons. If either texture changes, you are on a new block. This has a very practical application: if you are looking for a trigger object, it will be somewhere in the same block.

BTW, I have been saving that pearl for a while. I don't know why. :grad:

hmmm...never noticed that but back in the day, but all the dungeons ended up looking alike. Same rooms, just different sets of enemies, and the occasional gaming ending ancient vamp. I was to busy getting mad at the game cause my target wouldn't be in the dungeon they said it was, or getting midly annoyed when the fighters guild sends you to fight of a beasty in a locked house.

Let that be a leson to you rookies out there, always, always, always save before taking on a quest.

Yeah, that works well when confronted with multiple lifts, or large open rooms with multiple branches.
