Polearms!

Bethesda doesn't only improve their games over time by incorporating or omitting according to past successes and failures, they put that mind set into everything they do.

I mean c'mon it's plain to see how meticulously their media exposure has been laid out since FO3. Trust me every piece of concept art you've seen has been put in the game.

Think about it from the concept artist's point of view as well. Why have any concepts that were scraqed posted up on the wall for reference?

Why should we trust you?

Of course the artists would have things up on the wall that were scrapped for reference; it helps them know what not to do.

Concept art, is just that a concept. It definitely doesn't confirm anything.

I don't know that because we saw it in concept art that it will be in the game. They showed guards with spears in concept art for oblivion.

Well, on the first point about Bethesda's attention to detail in their marketing, I'm inclined to agree with you about that, but - and maybe I'm just being a little too pessimistic here - I don't think that's definitive.

As for the second, that's an interesting thought. But perhaps that concept art was still up on the wall for the armour it features...

But again, maybe this is just me trying to protect myself from being disappointed.

Well I'm not really sure what to think of it, but for the people convinced that spears are in I have one question. Why is it almost entirely erased from the concept art? That itself seems to indicate the focus of the concept is on the armor. If the weapon was an important part it would be detailed and clear, not just a vague grey silhouette.

Think what you want. I draw my conclusions from deductive reasoning not irrational fears and suspicions.

Right, did you see the concept art people posted from Oblivion and Morrowind of things that never showed up in the game?

Also have a look at the Oblivion concept art for Leyawiin.

I'm not sure if it was always like this, but I just loaded up the GI homepage again, and the icon for the Art of Skyrim update shows the concept art of the Redguard holding the halberd. :D Cheeky bastards.

And still no one gives Bethesda any credit for learning. How about you guys present some relevant evidence such as concept art used in the media run up to either FO3 or NV that wasn't included in the game.

Yeah, but then ask yourself why draw so many concepts of people holding spears/polearms.
There are lots of pic's that show that, whether it's rubbed or not,the fact that so many pic's have polearms would suggest them being there,in my view.
They could of easily done that with claymore's etc,but chose polearms.....why?
Also as i said earlier, there is alot of staff movement concepts too,and using a staff is very similar to using a spear, yes a spear is sharp, but the way you would hold it,and use it would be similar.
