Honestly, I felt like I was reading fanfiction. The plot that didn't really grab attention (although I did enjoy running through Hircine's Realm... That was awesome!), and if I must be honest, it felt a bit like reading mediocre fanfiction. Colin (the cop, right?) was a fascinating character; in fact, just about all the characters were well-done and invested with personality. I think the problem was that felt a bit like it was saying "OMGMUNDUSISINCHAOSAGAIN!!!". In itself, that isn't bad. But so many things sort of just "happen" without any explanation. By the end, nothing gets answered, more and more questions show up, and you're left wondering what just happened.
I was disappointed. Being stubborn, I will likely buy the second book, but more to get some sense of closure than out of any real enthusiasm.
