I think playing with PC is kinda uncomfortable because you have to be near the monitor and all the keyboards and the mouse.

With consoles,you can just sit on a couch with only one thing on your hands.Also,you dont have to worry about upgrading stuff all the time.Playing with consoles IMO is much more relaxing.

It's trivial to use a 360 controller with a PC, and most new games automatically support the same control layout, and any card capable of playing skyrim both has a HDMI-out and will be more than capable of playing any current game, and most games in the next few years, at console resolutions.

I lie in bed and play PC on my 32 inch screen with a 360 controller, so that's not really a point against PCs.

Probably 800-1100 that will give you a good computer that you can upgrade over time, but for skyrim hell a 600-800 rig will do you fine and that has future mods in mind.

Remember the most important parts are

MOBO
PSU

also no the game wont look like crysis the devs have stated "all versions will look alike" with the exceptioin of AA and higher resolutions.

That's not Crysis though is it - that's a massively enhanced mod - vanillas looks nowhere near that good.

Anyway PC definitely.

Yep, but my monitor is already that resolution. But considering I got a 40" TV so near, I'll probably hook up my PC to it the first time to get an even better experience.

also, i really like playing on a big tv, in a sofa and with an xbox controller. got an all new 46" led tv, so that'll work.

You can do all that with a PC and actually run the game at your TV's native resolution.

After all of the replies on how you can hook up a PC to a big screen and substitute the mouse and keyboard for a gaming controller, I'm starting to question even having a console. Not to mention adding mods to the mix. It's like a birthday cake made out of beautiful women.

I play on the Xbox, I'm envious of the mods PC players get but I'm on xbox nonetheless

Nice build. For my new PC, I'm thinking of either the i5 2500K/i7 2600K Sandy Bridge CPU and a GeForce 560 Ti GPU.

My PC which runs oblivion quite well, is only an Intel 3ghz E6850/ATI HD 4890 1Gb/4 Gb Corsair machine, it will probably struggle to run Skyrim even on medium at 1680x1050, no doubt.

I`ll probably get it for the Xbox 360 and hopefully the game will be way more better than vanilla oblivion was (just can`t play on Xbox - ugh).

At least it will look nice on the 46" plasma tv

Regardless of platform, you can always use a controller if that's your preference. If you're a 360 gamer, the controller MS makes for the PC is identical to the 360's, even has the identical xbox logo printed on it.

Gah! Those GTX 460's are sixy. But Now there are the new 560's, which are only ~$50 more. Hmm what to get...?

By the way for all those wondering how to upgrade for Skyrim, for video cards a GTX 460 is probably one of the best options. For $200 you get one of the best cards on the market.

Oh, my...I've seen the specs of the 560 and compared to the GTX 580...:

- CUDA cores: 384 (GTX 580: 512) (LOSES).
- Graphics clock: 822 (GTX 580: 772) (WINS).
- Processor clock: 1645 (GTX 580: 1544) (WINS).
- Texture Fill rate: 52,5 (GTX 580: 49,4) (WINS??!!!?!!).
- Memory clock: 4008 (GTX 580: 2004) (WINS).
- GDDR5 (basic): 1 GB (GTX 580: 1,5) (LOSES).
- Memory interface: 256 bit (GTX 580: 384) (LOSES).
- Memory bandwitch (GB/s): 128 (GTX 580: 192,4) (LOSES).

...so I'm not completely sure this is the low-end 5xx-series card or it wins/competes closeby with the GTX 580....and I'm not sure which one to buy either...ARGGRG, I'M IN A MESS AGAIN!

But if GTX 460 are prized at 150 € and the GTX 560 Ti is +-50 extra....that card for 200 bucks is VERY interesting...besides, this and the inminent GTX 595 will contribute to lower the prices, which is always good.

It's hard not to lose when buying a graphics card as improved versions come out every quarter - however with PC's being a generation ahead of the consoles it seems to me that most new cards can eat whatever PC games are released these days.

True enough. Anyway, I was mostly kidding

I've already planned not to make any *hardcoded* decisions about the components I'll buy for my new PC until September at least. Then I'll make the best choices according to my budget (800 € saved right now, with a planned one of 1600 minimum).

EDIT: Seen some GTX 560 reviews...looks like it's even slightly behind GTX 570, which confirms it's low-end 5xx. So, it's still GTX 580 for me.

I just can′t play any 1st person view game without keyboard + mouse...

I have a PS3 and PC, and i gonna play it in PC for sure! I think i don′t need an update (i5 + Radeon 5770) but if needed to run it at the top graphic quality, i will update!

There's no reason that setup shouldn't outperform the xbox.

I have two 360's and love playing them. But for rpgs I prefer PC hands down. Hell for most games I prefer PC.
