[Relz] Pozzo's Rise of House Telvanni v1.5

I wish I could give you a qualified answer regarding a patch for Juniper's Twin Lamps mod. If Juniper only adds some dialogue to Duke Dren, a patch could be made just like the one for Nevena's Twin Lamps. If he has the Duke killed, sends him on a journey (disables him) or replaces him with a unique NPC, things might be more complicated. It has been years since I played Juniper's mod, and I've forgotten almost everything about it.

On Freyte: You're right, her name doesn't follow Divayth's established daughter-naming convention. There's a simple yet slightly lenghty explanation to it: When he created Freyte, Divayth intended to create the ideal mate for himself. He got to work and named the baby "Freyte", after the Norse goddess http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/219967/Freyja (Freya in German, I didn't check the name's english spelling when I wrote RoHT - sorry!). Freyja is the goddess of love, fertility, battle, and death. You see that Divayth was ambitious, and you get an idea for what purposes he created his daughter. But as it happens so often, the child had her own ideas. Here's Divayth's comment on his eldest daughter:
Freyte... Gaah... She was my first experiment. While all the others turned out more than satisfactory, she is quite a disappointment. She just won't obey. Always tramping around Vvardenfell, never cleaning up the tower. [...]

In fact, Divayth was so disappointed with the outcome of "specimen" Freyte" that for the next experiments he even changed his naming convention. In a way, he made a clear cut and started from scrach. Freyte sheds some more light on it when you ask her about her background:
I am one of my father's experiments. In fact, I am the first experiment, the prototype so to speak. When he created me, he envisioned the perfect being. But when I grew up, he discovered that his prototype wasn't too keen on serving his selfish purposes. We parted ways early, and he created my four sisters who suit his like and taste better. He considers me a failure, but I do have some extraordinary sensory and intellectual abilities.

While you're here: the name Gammihe just reminds me of your project "Great House Romantic Sideplots": what became of it?

On hold until probably summer when I'm not spending all my nights in a kitchen due to culinary school and I think of any semblance of a plot, which I'm still terrible at. I decided to change the name Gammihe to Ommegae too for the alphabetical ordering reasons described in my post. As for Freyte, I can understand your reasoning but even keeping them in mind I might edit my own copy of RoHT to change her name to Protae... Divayth is a scientist after all, I'd expect him to be consistent even when using names based on cultures from a world he's never even heard of. :) IMO a name meaning "The first" is no less ambitious-sounding a choice for a woman intended to be perfect, either - kind of makes me think of, say, creation myths, and it implies Divayth would have been thinking of himself as a god. I like that.

Touché on pointing out that Divayth doesn't know about Germanic mythology - although I doubt he'd know about Greek letters as well. ;) When you rename her in your copy, make sure that you also change all instances where the name is used: Dialogue, Result Boxes, and Scripts.

Oh obviously.

I know it's kind of silly, but things like that bring out the pedant in me even when I know that it shouldn't matter.

It matters to you, that's all that counts for your game: go ahead and change it! Maybe it also matters for other players, so you might consider to release your changes as an addon.

In any case:
I've finally completed the new version 1.52 which fixes the Mournhold jail door bug. For improved compatibility with Stuporstar's Uvirith's Legacy, RoHT v1.52 also adds alcoves to Tel Dwemeris' corridor and Tel Koj-Ruskthss' lower tower. That means that - hopefully for the last time - an updated UL-RoHT-Compatibility Addon is necessary. All download locations have been updated with the new files.

It was me, or a "Rise of House Redoran" was in the works, too? I'd love to see it done as well, and it to be as amazing as this mod...

Benrahir: LGNPC's Pax Redoran mod is, for all intents and purposes, a "Rise of House Redoran" mod. It isn't quite as ambitious as ROHT, but many of your choices have consequences that affect the game world (i.e. you can cleanse Morvayn manor and Brara Morvayn moves back in, vote on mages guild monopoly, etc.). The entire theme revolves around restoring House Redoran's honor and strength, and it does a very good job of that. It has less of an impact on the overall game world than ROHT sounds like it will have, but unlike the Telvanni the Redoran are not expansionist; they would never have ambitions of "taking over Vvardenfel." Should you choose to try it out, I highly recommend playing it in conjunction with LGNPC Ald-Ruhn and LGNPC Indarys, both of which are also great mods and add to the overall Redoran experience.

Bhl: Since you have changed the way the player character removes Duke Dren so that it won't provoke military action, you have persuaded me to give this mod a try :) It sounds really cool, and as a huge Telvanni fan, I am looking forward to giving it a go. I have no qualms about destroying the mages guild since vanilla Morrowind itself had a quest to do virtually the same thing to the Telvanni :P

Hello. I need help on the Outer Realms of Nueranar sub-quest (within the exploring Pergamaea quest in which Uvoo claims to have discovered ancient forms of teleportation). When I drop the ancient mask on the ground it changes direction depending on which way the character is facing (with the character not moving any distance), thus appearing to be inconsistent with its supposed function as a tool for directing me to the lost tower. I have explored the whole area, including the surrounding water and I have no idea as to where this lost tower is. I would really appreciate any help on this matter. Thank you.

Yes, there's http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1106876-early-wipz-house-redoran-expanded (name is still subject to possible change). http://redoranexpanded.motionforum.net/t19-help-needed at the moment, though.

Good! Enjoy! :)

The tower is not located in Nuerenar: you'll find it on Vvardenfell. Also, the mask only works in exterior Cells (it's using the Face command that only works in exterior Cells). Since Nuerenar is technically an interior Cell, you're experiencing those inconsistencies. Just leave Nuerenar, and put the mask on the ground somewhere under Vvardenfell's sky to continue with the quest.
