Uninstall Children of morrowin

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:05 am

So I've come back to morrowind and i downloaded and installed CoM. I came to the conclusion that i dont really like the little ones running around so i tried to simply disable the mod in the data files list. Easy enough, right? Well when i load the game i cant even get to the main menu before a ctd. So i went and Removed all the Com files from my data files filder. Game tells me CoM master file cannot be found and ctd's. So I go and update from my .Ini still CTD before before main menu. I re-install and activate it, morrowind works with no problem. So i disable it again and again can't even reach the main menu and the process repeats. Any body know what the deal is?

Oh, and yes I updated the bsa with everything deleted too.

Do you have any patch or plugin that requires CoM?

That's a good question. I ran mlox and didnt come back with anything there. And Most of my other mods are ones that I know worked with out runnin CoM so I can't think of any that would.

Well... That may be a problem. I just got rid of my whole bethesda folder and was planning on completely starting over without putting CoM in there to begin with hopefully that will fix it. makes sense for it to work.

Your saves will probably still have CoM.esm dependancy, and you might need to use Wrye Mash to clean the save.

I thought about that. And my resulting action was getting rid of the saves too. Now the main problem will be extracting and installing the mods. :banghead:

Did you unregister MW_Children_1_0.bsa from your morrowind.ini?
Oh, now I see you did..

The easiest way to get rid of a mod would be file by file deletion using original mod package as a reference.
But you can automate the process with Total Commander's built-in "synchronize folders" function.

If you're starting from a clean install, let me suggest that you install http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=3646 and use it for unpacking and installing mods. It's great because if you decide you want to uninstall a mod, it remembers what files that mod installed and and will clean them up--among many other features.
