should npcs be able to jump? i remember in oblivion my acrobatics skill was 100 so i could jump on top of a building and reign terror on a city with my bow and arrow. if they aren't able to jump shouldn't they have someway of having a chance of killing you? any thing without a bow and arrow had no chance. if anyone has any ideas how to fix this i'd like to hear them.

Well, the easier way to fix it is to make sure that even 100 in Acrobatics doesn't allow you to jump on a building

It seems a bit daft that even becoming an expert in acrobatics enables people to jump so high

Definitely. I personally think that Athletics and Acrobatics (I say both because I think they will be merged, as Acrobatics controlled one tiny part of the game and Athletics made no sense anyways. How the hell is my warrior who never runs anywhere but can wear full plate armor and swing an ax like it's a butter knife not athletic?) should give us some other interesting perks. Like the ability to climb, which is already confirmed as out. Stuff that is more realistic than jumping 2 stories upwards.

I agree the max jump height unassisted should be 5 -10 ft depending on race. However jumping 20 - 50 ft should still be possible through a high cost spell.

If you got acrobatics THAT high your character probably already deserves to be called a god and noone will be able to defeat him anyway.
Also, removing fun tidbits like this would kill the series for some :) . I know a friend of mine who enjoyed Oblivion because he could exploit Acrobatics: he'd play cat and mouse with the guards and make them drop of off high ledges several times until they died , since he had high Acrobatics, the drop did nothing to him.

i dont rly care whether npcs can jump or not. I just dont want my guy to look like hees flying off the ground. jumping animations in OB were god awful. You could literally change direction in mid air as well. id like that fixed

yeah oblivion felt way too bouncy once your acrobatics was high.

and jumping across the surface of water should only be possible via magic... not the by-product of lots of jogging.

True using a fortify acrobatics spell to push you past the cap of 100 (to me a skill cap is like saying that this is the farthest you can push yourself without any kind of outside help) should make you able to do things not humanly possible.
