Do you ever just stop and stare?

I do it so often I've lost count. It is impossible to describe in words how lovely the scenery for this game is sometimes...

After all these years I still stop and look. Thank you Bethesda.

Yes, I do it all the time. I know the game is 5 years old and other games have better graphics by now, but I still find the vistas in Oblivion absolutely stunning.

Yes. I do this often. It's strange, but there are now games in existence with significantly nicer graphics, yet none give me that feeling of "wow, I can almost smell and feel the area" like Oblivion does. Perhaps it's the first-person, non-exaggerated freedom, but if I've ever seen a more natural-looking and natural-feeling video game, I don't remember it. I particularly love water (of all kinds; waterfalls, pools, oceans, lakes, etc.), forests, and views from great heights.

Oblivion may be getting older, but it's not that old yet -- and even though newer games may have better graphics, Oblivion uses it's graphics better. Sure, Dead Space 2 or something like that may have newer, shinier graphics, but if it's just corridor shooting, you ain't gonna see a [b]vista[/i].

That's where Oblivion comes into it's own with vistas - actually getting to the top of a mountain and gazing back across all of Cyrodiil, until you can only see forest in the distance...that's just pure amazing...no game, IMO, will ever beat that, and Skyrim will only improve upon it.

Always. That's why I wander the country side or use the horse to get around places rather than using fast-travel.
Truly spectacular... :tes:

OH yea, this! There's points in the game way up in the mountains above Chorrol where you can see the Imperial City, Kvatch, Skingrad all at once, way in the distance. The knowledge that I can walk (or ride) all the way there still fascinates me.

I have my graphics set to what would be Ultra settings and playing on a 48 inch HDTV with a full 12 speaker surrond sound system it feels like I'm there at times. Sometimes I wish Sabarel could have a fishing pole to just sit on the docks at Anvil and fish for hours on end.

I have installed:

- Weather: All Natural.
- Unique Landscapes.

plus

- Qarl's Texture Pack.
- OBGE v2 with SSAO activated.
- Diverse Grasses.
- Improved Trees and Flora 1 / 2.
- Improved Vegetation.
- Various LOD mods@4096x4096.
- Possibly some other misc mods I don't remember right now.
- ...and all of that TES4LODGen'ed.

....so the environments are just awesome. All Natural sometimes offers some red sunsets that are just stunning, especially while staying near the coast or in contrast with green fields-type environments like the ones near Skingrad. And Unique Landscapes offers a lot of variation from the old dull Cyrodiil (apart from it's eyecandy). I also love the awesome golden dawns that I can enjoy every once in a while.

I sometimes just stop at a sunset gleaming off of the lake or sunlight on a forest and just watch.

You can't find such beautiful scenery in COD or other more popular games.

I was playing about an hour ago and did the Nocturnal Shrine quest where you go to
Spoiler
Bleak Flats
Cave. I came out at about 6:30 pm. And I stood in amazement for the next :45-:60 seconds. CHILLS, yes, chills ran throughout my body at just how beautiful the sunset was. No other game EVER has had such a beautiful sunset (let alone environment) as Oblivion does. Buttt, to answer your question, yes, I always do.

Oh, indeed I do too. Even after soon 1500 hrs I still get awed by the beautiful environment and lighting. One of the many reasons I′ve loved Oblivion so much from the beginning (yes I do love eye-candy  ).
I still recall one moment in Anvil when heading down there for the first time. The sun was about to set and the light on the water was so beautiful I could do nothing else but to stare at it until it was totally dark
