Two books until the end, I can't believe how long the series lasted, and all the books are awesome, Please tell me the Characters I missed in the poll as I have only read up to the Serpentwar Saga, my favourite character (so far) was actually Arutha, as he was just so much more bad-ass than anyone else

IMO the series fell flat after/at the end of the Serpentwar Saga, I didn't read past the Riftwar Legacy so don't know if it recovered. The collaborations were good though, especially the Empire Trilogy,

Conclave of Shadows is when it got good again
EDIT: Riftwar Legacy was a gimmick to sell the video game really, I disregard them

I gave up reading them. The quality of the books varied too much.

When did you give up?

The initial trilogy was marred by publisher interference, since they wouldn't commit to a trilogy at first too much from the later books was merged with the first, then there wasn't really enough left to make a trilogy but they did anyway.

For me the problem was the end of the Serpentwar saga, It is a failing of some RPG settings that high level magic users become overpowered and boring, and by the end the story was full of them.

Those parts of the books where they were absent were good but when the story centred on them it became dull.

Agreed, I like Thomas though, Conclave of Shadows executed the whole "League of Supermages" concept much better than Serpentwar,
EDIT: Pugs personality from the first book is nonexsistent in the later books

When did you give up?

I haven't read The Demonwar Saga or anything beyond it. 90% of everything before it I have read. (I haven't read The Riftwar Legacy).

Demonwar saga was awesome and epic, I recommend it

EDIT: The empire trilogy with Janny Wurts is also required reading if you haven't already

A few years ago I was really into fantasy books and I read the first two. I really liked them but just so much stuff happened it was hard to keep up with everything.

Talon of the Silverhawk is probably my favorite book. I don't know why, it just sticks out to me for some reason.

I don't know who my favorite character is but Nakor is some other kind of awesome. :lol:

Hmmm...I didn't know there were so many books. I know the series isn't new but I bought a Relanched version so to speak that was made in 2010 and it was only two books.

I'm guessing translated they would called: The Magician - Apprentice; The Magician - Master. Definitely my two avourite boooks of all time

Favourite character probably Thomas, the whole transformnation thing he goes trough... As for who should play who in a (proper) movie, I always saw Thomas played by Jack O' Connell (probably because I'm a Skins huge fan :shrug: )

The Riftwar saga, if you only read to Magician book (it was released in one book and two volumes speerately) then there are two more books after that in that particular saga, Silverthorn and Darkness at Sethanon,

Ah. In that case I read the Riftwar Saga, when I said I read two books I meant the two volumes of the Magician book

I guess i'm just easily entertained, I haven't found a book in the series that I felt the need to skip or that was too boring to continue. That has only happened with The Return of The King and Tess of the d'Urbervilles (just thinking about Tess makes me want to slam my face into a wall).

You obviously haven't read Moby dike or War and Peace, I found the Rage of a Demon King got too slow in the middle, and I didn't like Roo's character all that much
