What do we know about the leveling system?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 3:18 am

If I have got it right, all we know now is that dungeons will be the same as your current level when you enter it and then stay that way for the rest of the game. Right? And does anyone know if that means you can only find good loot when you are at a high level?

Anyways, I really, really, hope that the whole world around you won't level up along with you, and that you then at a certain level will get high quality weapons from any random NPC you might kill. What's exciting about exploring dungeons when you always hit the jackpot at a high level? I want really good armor and weapons to be rare, and I want a variety in the skill of NPCs, because the game will get far to predictable otherwise and that will kill the fun of exploring.

Certain dungeons will be in a higher level slot like 17-23. So if you enter it at lvl 10 it will be locked at lvl 17 so you probably wont finish it but with some careful planning you may complete it at like lv13 and since it was so hard to do you'd get lvl 17 loot. Sound fair.

So there's a good chance of walking into a dungeon with higher level enemies than you are and also higher level loot.

I also think that there should be a chance to come across a bandit leader who would be a lot tougher to call than the other bandits in the dungeon, but he would also have higher level stuff, maybe even handplaced loot or something that leads to one of those "radiant quests" where the quest is assembled taking into account your character. Could just be a written note and leads you to something interesting.

According to some twits (those are twitter posts, btw) out there, it should be similar to FO3 where there are some really tough enemies with good weapons when we are a low level and also some weak enemies with crappy weapons when we are higher level.

It sounds like it's a Hybrid of Fallout 3 and Oblivion with it leaning a bit towards the Fallout 3 side. As long as you can't get Daedric Armor at level 1 by absuing an Invisibilty Scroll and not be a complete god at high levels then I'll be happy.

So... You want Daedric armor to just not exist until a certain level then? I don't want that at all. If I'm bad ass/smart enough to find a way to get some awesome gear before I'm high level then I should be able too. Though I only use Daedric as a example. I would prefer it to be extremely rare again.

The only thing with Fallout 3 is you can get good rare equipment at low levels. The only reason it wasn't broken was the skills and the guns. I would love for Daedric Equipment to be rare like Morrowind but I don't want somebody to abuse the system to get it at a low level. Now if it's a tough enemy that you won't be able to kill until level 20 that's guarding the equipment then that's different.

Then we are in agreement :D I just don't want items to magically appear in the game world at a certain level. Just make it harder to get them!

Whaaaaaaaaaat?!? This is outrageous. I was fine with the leveling system beforehand, honestly. It could have been improved... but making it EASIER? EASIER? One-timer dungeons? Wtf* is the point of that? You guys complain of being a high leveled GOD, but if everything stays at level 17, then...

...That.... That is really disappointing. Wow.

*what the frick-I don't cuss.

Not everything, just that one dungeon. There will probably be lots other higher leveled dungeons, I guess.
