Is anyone else worried about the size of the map?

I am not worried about the size of the map. I am worried about the gameworld's size!

Don't want another supercondensed stupid miniature world. 'Oh look I found that ancient ruin the legends told about, no one has been here for hundreds of years! And it's just 5 minute walk from the miniature huge city, how convenient!'

No, I'm not worried.

But I'll pretend to be like a bunch of the other critics on this forum, and I'll say "Oh no! The map might be the same size as Oblivion because of a vague description of a possibly incorrect translation of a Dutch magazine article! Now I'm not gonna get the game :'("

I'm not really worried about it. It's in good hands.

My standard response to this question.

For me, I still say that:

greater verticality (which in simple terms, basically means this: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c307/ColtoColto/Oblivion_vs_skyrim.png)
+ roughly 90 fewer dungeons than Oblivion
+ the mountain divides, rivers, and variable terrain indicated here: http://www.thedragonborn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/poss_loc.jpg

Oblivion was big, but it feels like there isn't much progress from it. I would think with 5 years of technological development a bigger map wouldn't be much of a problem. I hope they at least make it feel bigger than it is, Oblivion did a really bad job of that. Oblivion was bigger than Morrowind, but due to the speed that you moved at, the compass, fast traveling, easily transversable landscaping, and a massive line of sight it just felt so much smaller. It took much longer for you to run from one side of Morrowind to the other than it did in Oblivion, and i think it's all the little things that added up to make that happen.

As long as the map doesn′t look all the same and the places to exlplore are interesting and varied, it could be smaller for all I care

Not worried at all, in fact I am quite pleased with everything I have seen so far. I just hope that bethesda does what they want rather than do some of the things that people post and complain about constantly on these forums.

The map will be great, the graphics will be great on PC/console, and I trust bethesda to give us yet another great game to play for years to come.
