Should the NPC's move more sluggishly when fatigued?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:49 pm

How do you guys feel about NPC's being fatigued? In previous games you couldn't really tell just how tired anyone was because they always stood up straight with stupid smirks on their faces like nothing was wrong at all. How about some unique animations for when characters are overly-fatigued? I want to see people showing how fatigued they are with bodily actions, not just a "my feet are killing me" here and there, or a "hey, wait for me" when you get too far ahead, I want to see people struggle not just breeze through every tiring activity with ease. Even if unique animations are too much to ask for there should at least be some heavy breathing sound effects and some "out of breath" dialogue.

Discuss?

Edit: This also can apply to the player as well.

Bethesda have licensed havok behaviour for the game, so adding such 'state specific' animations or dynamic animations is expected. The animations should be much better this time - HB is sort of like GTA4's Euphoria, and that was pretty impressive.

Fatigue is gone as far as I know. It's been replaced by stamina and the way stamina affects combat is unknown.

Besides that, if it is similar to fatigue it would be pretty neat if they (and the player as well) would show it in animation when they're fatigued.

im a firm believer in anything that affects the PC should also affect the npcs as well. the only time they should have adjusted stats is for things like magicka pool simply cause npcs are stupid about casting spells. health, fatigue wise should definitely be identical as well as the affects.

They should slow down when running and stop to catch their breath when fatigue reaches 0, same for swimming but I don't want my character to colapse in combat although I do want spaghetti limbs :P

All of these could also apply to the player.

I'm pretty sure stanima is fatigue. Just a name change.

Fatigue is an annoying game play mechanic I'd like to see removed completely. So as far as my hopes go, I hope it isn't a factor at all.

Hasn't it always bee a factor though? If it isn't going away then they should at least make it do something.
