Beds 4 Rent

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 4:07 am

I'm using the Beds4Rent mod to add some beds that were left out. However, I can't seem to get it to work. In Dagon Fell the topic beds is not there at all and in Suran it is there but it's not a selectable topic. I haven't checked the other areas yet. Could someone help me to fix this. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, tried a new dl and the results are the same. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you try merging dialog using TESTool or something similar?

I thought that doing that usually breaks more than it fixes... Unless that's what you mean. :P

That's what I thought also, so I haven't done that. I did see that the dialogue is there in the cs but not showing up in game.

Oh I was posting if you DID do that it might have caused it, sorry for not being clear enough. Other than, Load Order or having the dialogmerged.esp thingy checked are the only problems that I can think of that would affect the topics not showing up.

I use the Beds4Rent mod but don't recall having the same problem you have the problem I had was one mentioned in the readme with info on fixing. Double check your other mods to see if they change dialogues of the relevant NPCs in those towns. Load order will matter if so.

Good luck,

John

Interesting, I had run my mod list thru Mlox and it said there were no problems. So I went ahead and redated the mod to move it to the bottom of the load list and that fixed the problem. It seems to be working great now. Thanks for all the help. :foodndrink:

Could you do me a favour and run a TESPCD "Single vs All" check? If you have Beds4Rent as the Single and all your other mods as the All it might well show which mod is conflicting. With that info we can look into getting the information into mlox, as it only knows what we tell it :)

The only thing in there at the moment is the fact that NoM contains this mod.

I've never used TESCPD before. But here is what I got, not sure if it is what you were looking for.

Ah, so you're not using a Merged Objects file generated by TESTool then.

Really it's pretty much essential in a modified game. You've 3 mods all affecting the NPCs Beds4Rent turns into publicans. Beds4Rent itself changes their class and adds a script, Morrowind's Riches multiplies the gold that traders have (the same traders that Beds4Rent changes into publicans) and finally Hold It adds some items to their inventories.

Without Merged Objects you're back in ye olde days of Morrowind modding: last loaded mod wins. All the changes from Morrowind's Riches and Hold It won't be made to these NPCs, without using a Merged Objects file. Simple load order rule in this case is to make sure that the mods whose changes are most important to you should load later in your load order.

I'm not going to create an mlox rule for this one, none of the other two mods add a script to the NPCs, which would've really messed up Beds4Rent.

But thanks for digging out the information for me, much appreciated!

Thanks for that info. I had not even thought about doing a merged objects file. :blush2: Will do that now.
