German Version of MPP 1.6.5

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:24 pm

Forgive me if this question has been asked a quadrazillion times, but I've been searching for hours now and am growing a little impatient.

I've recently bought the german version of Morrowind GOTY and spent almost 2 days looking for mods etc to spice things up.
Apparently, one thing totally slippped my sight: the incompatibility of english mods to the german gameversion!

My plan was to install the Morrowind Patch 1.6.5 beta, but since it would need translation to the german version it won't load properly.

I can't be the only german user trying to use that patch; did they all translate the different strings by themselves?!
Can't s.o. upload a translated version of the patch? Or are there copyright issues?

I have tried several things, like converting the .esm to .esp and using the FWN translator, but to no avail...

Sorry mate, but you won't like this answer: I don't know about MCP in particular, but you will only find mods for the german version of Morrowind on german Morrowind pages - which are pretty much outdated. All the shiny new mods are for the english version only. This is why my german version sits on a shelf gathering dust. It's not all lost though: the english GOTY costs a fiver at Amazon, for instance - and all your troubles are gone.

And yes, it's true: practically anything apart from pluginless replacers will be totally incompatible with the german version. :shakehead:

Well... thank you though, Id better stick to the english version then.

Kinda big design flaw to make different language game files totally incompatible to one another - but then again, it is a fairly old game and modding wasn't so big back then.

this is not true. we are talking about mpp by the way, not mcp which runs fine with the german version. there are two sites which are quite up to date. the mpp has a little substitute like morrowind improved.

and for all the shiny new english mods: yeah maybe it's hard work to translate big questmods but i work my ******** *** off, to translate a good deal the latest stuff. so don't drag it all into the dirt, my friend.

bierroller: i would be pleased to meet you at scharesoft.de or worldofelderscrolls.de to help you out with as many information as i have.

Nonono...I am sorry Sister, I didn't mean to diminish your work at all! I know you have translated a lot of mods into german. But my suggestion still stands: for http://www.amazon.de/Elder-Scrolls-III-Morrowind-Game/dp/B000J39B1C/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1304369578&sr=8-13 (I am sure it even used to be cheaper, like 4,99 €) the english version is - despite your efforts - a buy someone like Bierroller will certainly not regret.

Please don't be offended Sister! My first playthrough was with the german version (practically un-modedd), and is was quite an irony that at that time, there was a plethora of english mods out there but the only two TCs to speak of (http://www.sureai.de/projects/arktwend/ and http://www.sureai.de/projects/myararanath/) were both in german. Being TCs, they probably would have worked with the english version as well.

By that time, I was so hooked, it had to be the "Collector's Edition" plus individual copies of "Tribunal" and "Bloodmoon"... and never looked back. I simply had no idea there was a german communitiy left to speak of. Well, shame on me, then. :flamed:

forgiven ;)

erm.

i own the ev as well. i just don't use it atm. it sets me into state to translate my own mods into english. and you can run both copies with one and the same disc, no matter if it's the german or the english dvd. so it is not that bad ;)

and some visitors of those both sites i mentioned also use the english version, so the community is not divided that much.
