Altered Destinies
------
A prophecy was fulfilled in the Heart Chamber of Akulakhan, within the bowels of Mount Ur. A demon and a hero reincarnated fought a vicious battle. An ancient evil was cast down and a terrible power struck from Nirn. This is what everyone knew, and what everyone remembered.
But what if, even as the Nerevarine, the fabled hero, engaged in combat with Ur, the deceiver's poisoned words were seeping deep into his mind, corrupting him, and causing him to stray from the course destiny had ordained him? What if the heart was not destroyed? In one moment, everyone's destiny was altered.

You and some companions gather around a small table in a musty cargo hold lit and warmed only by a single candle. The salty smell of the Inner Sea weeds its way into your nose and giving you a dull ache in the back of your skull. The room is tilting violently, and you can hear the rapid patter of a storm above you. You jostle for space around the lean, graying man in golden, scratched armor. Though there are few of you, the room is small and uncomfortable.
"My name is Plutonious Ironmark, Knight Templar of the Imperial Legion. I'm here to tell you a story..."
------------------
It has been five years since Nerevar incarnate, a magus named Valen Urendil, struck down the betrayer, Ur, under Red Mountain. The tired mage ascended from the pit, before his assembled companions, and raised his pitch-black blade in triumph. A new page in history had turned. There was bliss, joy, and a period of rapid economic growth for the island. Vvardenfell, and Morrowind as a whole, quickly came into focus in the grand political scheme of Tamriel. Over time, the soil regenerated from the desolation of the blight, and new imports flooded out of Morrowind; rare goods not seen in years. The demand of slaves increased as a result of this, and racial tensions escalated. But Vvardenfell would not need to care, under the unofficial rule of the Nerevarine.
During the five years since, the Nerevarine had been fostering support among the Houses, and in the end perhaps became a greater political threat than physical. Several academies were created in his honor, the most prestigious of which being the Uvirith Academy for Aspirant Mages. The only ones accepted were handpicked by him. Later, we would find that these were to be his own personal guard. His elite, entirely indoctrinated into his ways. None of these establishments accepted outlanders into their ranks, and Valen worked through his hands to rally anti-outlander sentiment among the people. Soon, the 'scourge of Vvardenfell' were being publicly lynched. Duke Dren could do little, and the Imperial settlement of Ebonheart soon became a fortress of solitude.
And then we lost contact. Before our last contact went dark, we'd learned that Valen hadn't destroyed the heart. He'd been keeping it dormant, using its power to fuel his transformation into a magical vessel of untold power. In the space of three hours, he caused the blight to flood back over the island, its power redoubled, led an assault on the City of Vivec - we've lost contact with Vivec himself. - and subjugated the weaker-willed island residents with a massive domination magick. We don't know the power source, or how he maintains it.
Almalexia recently fell to powerful magic assassins, the entire Temple district of the city obliterated in the conflict, and we haven't heard from Sotha Sil. The blight spread far faster than any had anticipated, and we had to make use of a powerful, joint-nation mage collective to erect a temporary barrier over the island. Five of these mages died in the effort. We know that it will not last forever, which is why we're being sent in. What we know boils down to this; Valen has gone mad on a power trip, and has wrested control of Vvardenfell for himself. He has a legion of both powerful, indoctrinated servants, and brainwashed citizens. His eyes and ears are everywhere, such that our contacts have all been eliminated. We can only assume he has designs for the rest of Tamriel, and we need to stop him. So there's only one thing left, now that we're almost there.

Rules:
-No one liners. Not to say I want novels for every post, but simply saying 'Bob the Argonian says 'Yes'.' will not be acceptable.
- 3 char MAX per person (2 chars preferred maximum.)
-Romance is acceptable, but keep it tasteful. No graphic depictions of anything, please.
-Vampires and Werewolves; As it is, I will only accept one of each, and the sheet better be very, very good.
-The above goes for 'Uber' characters. I'll accept it if I think you have the maturity to handle it and play it out well.
-No power gaming.
-On vulgarity; Use it where needed, not spewed all over the place just for fun, please.
-Villains are acceptable. I don't want psychopathic murderers who are just going to stab everyone in their first post. The empire will have them screened out.
-Try to have your main character stick with the group. If you have secondaries, I don't really care if they wander or not, or if they make their own little story.
-Above all, have fun, and try to ignore my mediocre hosting abilities.
-No high-power equipment if you have a secondary starting in Vvardenfell.

Theme: This roleplay will welcome any characters; Tamriel's path was changed by this event, and so were the destinies of all within, so feel free to take any of your characters even from past roleplays in any direction you want. The blight IS spreading; it has overtaken Cyrodiil, Morrowind, much of Black Marsh, and even Skyrim. Within the dome, Vvardenfel is an utter hell of dust and ash. Cyrodiil's beautiful vistas and deep valleys are being destroyed, covered with ash and burnt away into charred deformities of their previous selves. Even the most secluded peoples are affected as crops die, lairs are blocked in, and creatures roam more freely. Bandit raids have become even more frequent, and monsters more bold. The leaders of the lands argue over what course of action to take about Valen; the Empire has decided to act first with a covert assault.
I have planned a heroes section; just give a tidbit of information for the general browser if they're interested in the roleplay.
With your character sheet, please PM me a heroes section tidbit; a short description of your character.
