Help Please with massive slowdown running FCOM and a few oth

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:48 pm

Help please! I just started playing Oblivion again with Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine and all extra plugins. I also have installed FCOM with a couple extra mods. I know that’s a lot of stuff going on but 2 years ago on the same computer everything ran so smooth. My resolution is only set at 1360 x 768 with no AA. The game runs fine until I get into combat then it gets so jaggy and slow. Any advice would be so appreciated. I have installed the Streamline mod, Coolbits forceware, and made many changes from the Oblivion Tweak Guide with no real luck.

Below are links to my load order and details on my computer. I know this is a lot of info to look at but I would be so appreciative of anyone who could help me.

Thanks in advance!!!

FCOM slows computers down. It's cpu intensive, and Oblivion mostly only makes use of one core. A second core is helpful but not to the hardware's full capabilities.

Also, you can post your load order from within Wrye Bash by right-clicking on the column headers and choosing list mods.

EDIT: If you want to improve performance somewhat while keeping FCOM, then
ditch Tamriel Travelers
ditch water weeds and any fish plugins
ditch any "more" or "increased" plugins from MMM. Use "stronger" instead, since it will lessen the number of spawns but increase their difficulty

Your PC specs are similar to my old rig I enjoyed till 1 mo ago.
Quite enough to run Modblivion.
I never ditched Tamriel Travellers.
I did not use the weeds coming with OOO though, never saw them in their glory.
You can try OSR by SkyRanger1 plus the 4GB patch (LAA patch which teaches Oblivion to use up to 4 GB Ram.)
Hope this helps.
Oh, and it is your mods that slows down the machine. But then, who wants to play vanilla? :D

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1089247-need-plugins-to-increase-game-performance/ <-- should help, but as everyone else has pointed out, you are running FCOM, enjoy it :)

Oh, and next time you can just post your Bash load order here, a little easier to look at...http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/troubleshooting/postlo

Try using quiet feet max mod if you have a onboard sound card
