Esbern was in Oblivion too!

It just seems weird. I mean this seems like a dev [censored] up rather then an allusion to a future person in TES. Remember Tod's comment about the blades in his interview.

Do you think this means he will probably be a nord?

Definitely. It's a Nordic name. THere's a famous Swedish jazz musician who died a couple of years ago, his name was Esbj?rn. Esbern might be the Icelandic version.

...but not a relative. None of them have a family name so there's no reason to suspect them being related, if they aren't the same person that is. Who knows? Maybe he was working undercover?

And about the age - he's a dragonborn. Maybe dragonborns can live longer?

When M'aiq talked about dragons, he was referring to the Avatar of Akatosh.

Well, I had assumed that Esbern was going to be a Nord, for the name and the actor. But now I see that, as I thought, it IS a Nordic name.

And how certain is that? To me that's about certain as deducting from a particular character's name in OB that Esbern must be a similar Nord. However, this thread is all about guesses, isn't it...

He's a Dragonguard; not a Dragonborn.

The name Esbern is a old-norse(scandinavian) name. Es = ?s/ás(aesier). bern = bj?rn (bear).
Its another version of the name Asbj?rn. The name means "godly bear".
