Fast Travel is currently unavailable

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:09 pm

Hi, After completing the robco factory for my last wastelands survival guide mission, I am now unable to fast travel from what seems to be anywhere. I will just get a message that "fast travel is currently unavailable from this location" no matter where i am, whether it be directly outside megaton, or all the way at the robco factory.

I tried using the console with, enablefasttravel 1
but with no success though this being my first time using the console i could be doing it wrong.

In terms of hardware and OS im using

Fallout 3 GOTY edition - bought from steam

Windows 7 64bit Home premium
cpu - i7 920
graphics card - hd 5850
6 GB RAM

it terms of FOMM load order im currently using, in this order

Fallout3.esm

Anchorage.esm

ThePitt.esm

BrokenSteel.esm

PointLookout.esm

Zeta.esm

Mart's Mutant Mod.esm

DarNifiedUIF3.esp

GalaxyNewsRadio20[M].esp

UPP - Pack 1.esp

UPP - Pack 2.esp

MTC Wasteland Travellers.esp

Mart's Mutant Mod.esp

I did originaly play with eve energy visuals enabled aswell, but there was a conflict somewhere and it seemed to cause my game to crash and bad visual effects whenever an energy weapon was used.
I would usualy just load up a previous save prior to the game telling me i cant fast travel anywhere but my last save is sadly 4 levels away so that isnt really an option for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

PS. my character is not overburdned or crippled or radiated, he's even well rested at this moment so it shouldnt have to do with that.

Maybe the 'can't fast travel when an enemy is nearby' is stuck. Perhaps try using a console command to 'warp' your character to a safe location, and then see if you can fast travel again. Just don't try to warp to a DLC location, it can cause problems. Instead, try somplace like, Megaton.

coc [Cell ID]
Example: coc MegatonCommonHouse

Just tried that, it warped to the location fine, but once im at the location i still cant fast travel anywhere else, also note it doesnt say about enemies being nearby it says "fast travel is currently unavailable from this location"
Also when i warped the location stayed in the spot where i was previously, for example if i warped to rivet city market from megaton my marker on the map would still be on megaton, but not sure if that makes a difference.

Fast travel is not usable in Operation: Anchorage. Maybe it's a glitch related to that? If you haven't started O:A yet, I'd recommend making a clean save without it loaded and see if that helps.

I hadnt started anchorage yet, apart from finding my way to the outcasts, but not booting up into the sim which plays up most of that dlc. I tried a save without it in the loadup but still the same issue

perhaps maybe a corrupt save? I have a friend at work who had that very same problem with Oblivion recently. Try reverting to a previous save, or start a new game, and see if you can fast travel then.

I suppose thats always an option but theres the chance this could crop up again, and like i said in my original post, my previous save is 3 levels and about 3 hours worth of gameplay exploring etc which i dont really want to do again.

So if possibly i'd like to work through this

I know what you mean about losing playtime. I recently deleted the wrong saves from Oblivion and now have to replay the last twelve hrs of playtime.
There is a very real possibility that you have a corrupt save, especially if you overwrite your saves. they can be funny sometimes, you can play on the same corrupt save for hours and not even know it, then BAM!!! It hits you, and sometimes you have to take your hits and go back to a previous save or even worse, start over.

You can try working through this, but if your save is corrupt you may have no choice. I know it svcks, but sometimes necessary.

Try disabling wasteland travelers.

Thanks an absolute ton everyone who helped, and in particular neglium

Booted it up without wasteland travelers and boom, everything seems to be working perfectly, can fast travel anywhere as i would usualy be able to.

Also, after making a save with it disabled, i rebooted fallout with it in the load order back where it was, and everything still seems to be back to normal, though i suppose it could hit in at any time. I couldnt find this on the forums so i suppose this isnt a known issue, i suppose ill have to have a look through the wasteland travelers readme and see if i can get any help.

Once again guys, thanks alot
