Can you fade a sound effect?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:30 am

Does anyone know of a way to have a sound effect fade the further you get away from the source?

I'm trying to use the "QST911AlarmLP" sound to simulate a burglar alarm in a large cell, it works fine but, it fills the entire cell with sound at the same level. This is slightly annoying because the cell spans three buildings and, I would like to have it quieter the further away from the source.

I created a new form and, played around with some of the sliders but, none seemed to have any effect.

any thoughts, ideas on how to make it work the way I want.

thanks for any help

Cev,

Try setting the Maximum Attenuation Distance (units) to something like 1000 and see how that works. I have some klaxon's set between 2000 and 6000 units (as compared to the 30,000 x 30,000 x 30,000 havok radius). I have my Minimum's set to 400, I recommend you play around with the numbers until you find a good min/max.

Miax,

Thanks for the quick reply and, the help. I've gotten the sound to work the way I wanted. :celebration:

I did notice that the form I copied was set to 2D not 2D radius, once I changed the check-boxes the sliders began to work properly.

I hope you know how much I appreciate your help, you always seem to be there when I'm having trouble.

Thanks a lot,
