Has the Combat Shotgun been confirmed to return?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:24 pm

a shotgun i would love to see in the game would be the Auto-assault12. its one of the best shotguns in the world. also the capabilty's it has to use different ammo types fits in perfectly with what they're trying to do in this new fallout.

It's actually the ultimate tactical combat shotgun - full auto fire, and can shoot a freakin' GRENADE farther than a .22 rifle can shoot. Oh yeah and it can auto-fire grenades as easily as regular ammo.

I wouldn't mind seeing it again, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if it didn't make a reappearance either.

Shotguns don't really seem very relevant considering how DT is about to [censored] them. Of course they're still useful for un-armored opponents and generally being badass... I'd like to see the Fallout 3 Combat Shotgun as well as the others. There's always room for more guns.

Im aware of this O_o thats why i said it would fit in nicely with their whole interchangable ammo types....

I would like to have seen the bullpup Combat Shotgun from Fallout 1 and 2 return. The good old Winchester City-Killer, single shot and burst (fully automatic), with the optional DesertWarfare environmental sealant modification for extra reliability. :)

The Combat Shotgun in Fallout 3 is a very, very poor design; the drum magazine is far too forward, giving it a very short barrel in comparison to its overall length. 18 to 20" is about optimum for complete powder combustion, whereas the one in Fallout 3 is insanely short (you'd be deaf for some time firing a 10" barreled 12 gauge, in addition to losing shot velocity and pattern density).

Well, if we get slugs, or possibly even a frag-12 equivalent, DT will be mush against that shotguns..

I got one word: Sabot Penetrator. Ok that was two words. But a sabot penetrator should have no problem with even the highest DT.

I really liked the Combat Shotgun. It was my best friend when fighting my way through Feral Ghoul infested Metro tunnels early in the game. That and the Hunting Rifle. I'm kind of excited about the enemies being way harder to kill this time around since that low level character terror when trying to take on several enemies at once with a hunting rifle low on ammo is just priceless. It's actually pretty fun in hindsight to stay on your toes.

Right on. The Terrible Shotgun (Mills Bazaar shop) at 85 Hit points instantly shredded anything in it's sights within range. Ol' Painless (Republic Dave) was a handy hunting rifle, but 2nd best to the Lincoln Rifle (fires .44), or better yet, the Backwater Rifle (.32).

If it doesn't make the game they better have a weapon that rivals the "chun che Chenk" noise it had when shot in VATS

The only weapon rivaling it in terms of proper satisfaction is how powerful the Axe is in PL

Makes me feel like Jack Torrance and for a high level character it doesn't matter that it's over powered Fallout:New Vegas needs balanced melée weapons(though I still feel that it's stupid to bring a knife to a gun fight)

The Backwater Rifle fires 10 mm bullets.

But if Fallout:NV gets a MP40 ill be more than satisfied. :)

Wouldnt be too shocking, and it would be cool to see an MP40 in the game since those guns can still be bought these days.

OT: I didnt mind the combat shotgun in Fallout 3, but it wasnt my favorite in game gun. If they dropped it I wouldnt be too upset. But as far as it being confirmed, I dont know or have any idea. But with all the weapon custimization that will be in New Vegas who knows what guns from other Fallouts will make a come back.
