It's probably just over time, and is counted through all of your playthroughs.

Seems like it, but of course you could recruit a companion and then fire him when you find the next one. I hope that you can at least get two humanoid companions. I want Victor and then someone else. :disguise:

Edit: But judging by the title you might be able to have a whole posse going on.

You both realize in Fallout 3 Sgt RL-3 is a robot and he is considered humanoid? If Sgt is considered humanoid I'm guessing the way more human looking Victor will be the same.

the non humanoid companions are aparently all "Creaturs", aparently anything you can swap inventorys/weapons with is not considered a creature.

One humanoid follower and one 'other' follower. It's in one of the Fan Interviews...

Care to relate where you found this at? I'm assuming you mean related to FO:NV. Or are you just making an observation in general about how companions worked in FO3?

Recruiting has nothing to do with following.

If you could get them all to follow, you'd have enough carrying capacity to start a post apocalyptic mobile WalMart.

Also, since its been said that each companion confers a Perk to the player while traveling with them, being able to have more than a couple of companions at once would confer a massive handful of Perks upon the player, and unbalance things even more than having your own personal army and pack caravan.

Again, you can have one humanoid and one non-humanoid. All that achievement says is that you have recruited all possible companions.
