Make the fast travel OPTIONAL and also the hints where to go on the map OPTIONAL. Heck, you might as well make the city icons OPTIONAL as well.

Fast travel already is optional... You don't HAVE to use it...

Fast Travel is optional: don't use it
Quest markers too: activate a quest you don't intend to complete (there is always one)
