The New Morrowind Modding History

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 3:48 pm

We are very pleased to give you a brand-new http://mw.modhistory.com!

After over six months of solid development time, we have finally completed a full ground-up rebuild of MMH. We have entirely thrown out the old and quite buggy system and replaced it with one entirely of our own creation.

We have focused on simplicity and ease-of-use. Submitting a mod to our database is now nearly as simple as downloading a mod! And rather than having a variety of usernames and passwords, we have combined the user database with that of Great House Fliggerty. So now you can login to MMH with your GHF username and password...in fact you can even login at GHF and automatically be logged in at MMH if you wish!

One of the fantastic additions we have created is the inclusion of screenshots. And what's more, any logged-in user can upload screenshots for any mod in our database! We are striving to have a complete community-built collection of mods.

On top of it all, we have created a domain solely for this site instead of using a fliggerty.com subdomain. We now have http://mw.modhistory.com

There are so many people that we need to thank for this. Starting with those who originally contributed mods to our database, continuing with those who have helped with the checking and sorting of them all, and down through everyone who contributed input and images and such with the development of the new site. There are too many to name everyone, but we do want to recognize a few specifically: Ronin49, Naajaw, Leonardo, Melchior Dahrk, Kiteflyer61.

Along with the advent of the new site, we have made a few changes to the staffing structure. Leonardo has agreed to take on the role of Senior Curator; as such he is in charge of coordinating and delegating the efforts of the staff in sorting through and approving mods and screenshots. Other staff now have the rank of Steward.

Everybody who uses MMH can earn a rank at GHF too. The more you download mods, upload mods, and upload screenshots, the higher your rank will get!

So head on over, check out the new site, and let us know what you think in our http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=88

Oh, and one last suggestion: this is an ideal time to dig out your old mod archives. Find anything you have which may not be available elsewhere. We are not saying anything yet, but we're soon going to provide some good motivation for contributing!

Nice work, Flig! Look pretty cool.

Also, can you make http://mw.modhistory.com/images/header4.png more.. wide?

This is outstanding!

I have bookmarked the site and once I finish my NPC companion mod Tii Guar I will upload it there! I have a feeling I have just visited the next Planet Elder Scrolls.

EDIT~~

Congratulations and thank you to everyone that has helped to make this site! You all have done a great job!

I think you forgot to tell everybody here and that's the name for the former Morrowind Modding History Admins is now change to Modding History Steward. :tes:

Another thing that I encourage anyone here is to use the http://web.archive.org/ as well. I'm looking forward to your contribution to MMH in the future. :tes:

Yes! So many times I wish I could have done that on PES...

The site was designed to work any size or aspect of monitor, so increasing the size of that will make it scrunch up for some people.

I certainly look forward to MMH being more widely used! Everyone is welcome to upload any mods or mod-paraphernalia that they wish.

Nice work!

Still a couple bugs though.
I tried to log in via MMH, it tried to send me to a part of GHF (http://mw.modhistory.com/ghf/phpBB3/ucp.php?i=profile&mode=profile_info&required=birthday). Apparently I haven't entered my birthday yet :P
Now for the less interesting thing: a couple of missing icons for the unprocessed section (http://mw.modhistory.com/download-92).
And last but not least, those nice little links at the bottom (valid XHTML and CSS). If I see one of those I just have to click... Both are invalid.

It looks nice though, I rather like the icons :D

Thanks for the bug reports...something I always highly value!

We do require a birthday be entered. Once you add that to your profile, you will no longer be redirected.
Now for the less interesting thing: a couple of missing icons for the unprocessed section (http://mw.modhistory.com/download-92).

Thanks for finding those. I'll get the team on it asap.

Ah, an oversight on my part. I neglected to remove those after the initial design. The original template certainly did validate, but once you get into things like adding all sorts of Jquery/Ajax generated content, it's quit difficult to keep it valid.

First impressions: The onclick events for the files in the file list is really really annoying. It breaks tab based browsing

How so? Would you mind elaborating? All of the onclick areas have a corresponding href that you can use for tabbing around. Or do I misunderstand your complaint?

Tabbed browsing as in multiple browser windows.

If you middle click on a link, (In the file list) it opens the link in a new tab and the same tab due to the on clickevent. This is annoying imho.

Much more spangly! :goodjob:

So my old Morrowind Mod History login doesn't work... Does that mean I need a(nother) GHF login? My old GHF one got purged a year or so back.

Yep. The nice thing is, now with your GHF login you can login to all of the GHF sites (GHF, MMH, Skyrim, TESfeed, and C&E) at once with one account. :)

Will /can the mods I uploaded under my old account (on the old site) be associated with the new account?

Since when did TESFeed need a login?

Absolutely. Though if there are a lot of them a list would make it much easier and quicker. :)

It doesn't. :blush2: My bad. It's been a long day. :D
