Rainbow Six Rogue Spear.

Comes with a mission planner. They give you a map area with a mission, you choose your men, you equip em, you plan out their mission, you can then watch them execute the mission for you, while you give orders here and there.

I agree that's a good one if it's still available somewhere.

Using that mission planner is really a good idea. When I only just bought it, I thought screw the planner, I'll go in and own them while I improvise, only to acknowledge that wasn't a smart move. :D

Rainbow Six and Rainbow Six Rogue Spear are serious business tactical simulators/shooters. I can't recall if other games had the plan & AI execution feature. Its so dope, I can't believe its not butter illegal. I always wanted to make my own maps for Rogue Spear, but it was such a hassle it wasnt worth it. I can't say anything about the story, I just liked watching my men rip through those dang terreris.

I played Delta Force 2, from Novalogic, and it was a pretty fun game, espescially online and the editor. I know with the editor you can make the AI do whatever you want, it was cool creating my own missions and battles. Not sure about single player on this one, only did multiplayer and custom games/mids.

There is also Operation Flashpoint, if your into these type of games. Can't say much about single player or multiplayer, diddnt play them, but I can say that the editor is real fun.

A good maintained XP is far better than a ME, a fresh XP is better than a ME.

No. It's not. ME is to 98 what Vista is to XP.

Still make?

Sim City is fun.
You should be able to get an NES emulator and go old school. Castlevania was my favorite.

I had a perfectly functioning Dell from 1999 that I'd slowly upgraded over the years. It had a 1.4 Ghz Celeron (up from the 366 Mhz it came with), a Voodoo5 PCI video card, 384 MB of RAM (maximum it could take) and an 80 GB hard drive. There's just so much you can do with Windows 98 and even hooked up to DSL it was bog slow just surfing the internet. The only thing I used it for was Diablo II (Voodoo cards + Glide games = win!) and that wasn't a good enough reason to keep it. Gave it away to the Salvation Army last spring.

Some of the old point-and-clicks (Beneath a Steel Sky, Flight Of The Amazon Queen, etc.) should work. http://sc2.sourceforge.net/ (Star Control II adapted ot work with modern computers, basically) might run okay, too.

EDIT: Unclosed tags :shakehead:.

EDIT2: http://www.darkarts.co.za/vulture/news isn't hard on the hardware, either.

I think the repair guy was having a joke at your expense. :(

He could have just as easily installed a decent OS (Windows 2000, Windows XP, etc) or even a Linux distro such as Ubuntu or Debian. Windows ME is utter crap in terms of an OS - it's buggy, not even based on an NT kernel, and offers nothing beneficial. Windows 2000 / Windows XP are infinitely better. At this point, actually, ReactOS is probably more stable and better than Windows ME.

Windows ME is much worse than Windows 98, so it's not really an upgrade. It is infamously bad, and any repair geek guy would know this - so unfortunately, I think he was having a little joke at your expense.

The free RAM was nice. But any game that will run on Windows ME, will also run on Windows 98. You could've played The Sims and Stronghold regardless!

OS aside, even if I recall ME had no dos,or crippled version of it,an uncle of mine had that crap :brokencomputer:

Games, abandonware,or original C&C which is out for free now,or in stores which sells used games one can occasionally find really old titles, got one of the wing commander sold used in one for a few years back for example.the first civs, alpha centauri, forsaken, incoming, caesar 2 and 3,gta 2,the first nfs like 1 and 2,after that you better have some 3d ;)
just out of my head.
