Door to 101

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 8:46 am

I'm trying to link a door in my bunker to one i made in Vault 101, but even when leaving both doors unlocked, the door is apparently "activated elsewhere". It's not, it just doesn't like me going back to 101. Any hints please?

You need to link the two doors together. Are you following thehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2xskfNS8HE&p=0697E09E0839D993&playnext=1&index=1, they will teach you all of these basics and get you rolling quick.

To link two Doors together:

1. Double-click one of the two doors to open it's Reference window, and pull that little window aside for a minute.

2. Load-up the cell that has the other end of the door.

3. In the Door Reference window you opened in step 1, click, "Select Reference in Render Window", which will bring up a new crosshairs.

4. Double-click on the destination door, which should spawn a yellow XMarkerHeading in front of the door. If you see this, you've got it right.

5. Click "OK" on the Door's Reference window.

6. Make sure the XMarkerHeading is facing away from the door and placed just in front of it.

7. Go back to the original cell and make sure the XMarkerHeading on that door is facing away from the door and placed just in front of it.

8. Save and Test.

Try those tutorials, they really are awesome.

Luck,

If the door gives you that message, then there is a script on the door you are using that will not allow it to be activated. You have to create your own copy of the door and use it instead. Amd make sure to remove the script from your copy of the door.

yeah, see i've linked the door's together (no unwanted scripts), as i know how to link doors. The problem is, Fallout 3 don't like you trying to re-enter Vault 101 specifically. I heard there's a way around this, a part of Vault 101 not bound by the anti-teleport.

I have never heard of anything that would not allow you to 're-enter' a cell.

Vault 101 does have several 'verrsions' of itself. So its usually not a good idea to go into vault 101 other than the quest linked cave entrance. Otherwise, you will have to determine which part of the vault 101 questline you are in so you know which one to teleport to.

And the only way to get the 'you cant use this door' is through the scripts. What is the Editor ID of the two doors you are using?

oops, ignore that.

okay, i deleted both doors and made new ones, making sure they had no scripts. then, i linked the doors to each other, and a terminal to the door (for unlocking, irrelevant in this circumstance). The fact still remains that fallout 3 doesn't want you back in Vault 101. You should really try it.

Access to Vault 101 d, its access tunnel, and exterior door in the game world, vanish alltogether once quest MS16 becomes available.
The best place to put somethng to access Vault101D would be in the Game world or a custom interior cell linked to the gameworld somewhere else.
The Tutorial Vault (Vault101d) emptys out the moment you exit into the game world.
All its peeps move to the the MS16 Vault, which comes into play once you escape from the Jefferson Memorial with Doctor Li.

It can be done.

The cells are still there, just not accessable to the player.

I have no trouble linking a door from a personal 'bunker' to any of the vault 101 interior cells at any time.

If you are using one of the 'existing' doors in Vault 101, then that old 'door' is still there, even if you delete it. It has become part of your save game and will remain 'inassessable' from within vault 101. You should make a new doorway and door location if you want to link them. And you would need to do it for both versions of the vault.
