Does lip sync use the wav or the text to generate lip?

Hi guys,

I have a question about the lip syncing function in tes cs. Does lip sync use the wav or the text to generate the .lip file? I want to know this because i am trying to generate a .lip for a chanting voice or a voice talking random jibberish. Thank you.

My understanding was that both were required. The text file provides the clues for the mouth position, but the wav provides the timing.

It will always randomly generate a lip file based on the wav file only. I tested this myself and it doesn't matter what text you type. It will always generate a different lip file with different mouth movements. For my mod I didn't bother with text whatsoever for over 1500 sound files and the result is the same as how npcs talk (slightly off at times, but very reasonable).

Isn't there anyone who knows exactly how lip syncing in oblivion works? And Math did you try sound files with jibberish rather than actual words.. Like tatata ratetetenten blana. (some indian musical chanting).
