Will this nightmare ever end

Well things have gone from bad to better and now worse than ever.... i started a new game from birth with the extra FOOK bits disabled and seemed to be running great, i got out of the vault had a bit of a run around for a couple of hours and everything was good so dicided to give a couple of other mods i wanted to use a go loaded them and started yet another new game and as before all good, i even found Sonora using the regulators mod in the list and set off collecting fingers from all them nasty wastelanders, anyway cleared a few raider camps and had myself about 60 fingers but found myself wanting more lol so headed to fort independence where i knew there would be raider, talon company and enclave troops kicking off so got there and decided to take on the enclave as they would put up the most resistance so i killed about half of them and then i think i got shot by a plasma weapon as the game crashed and my gun was green, i know i had plenty of health well over half so shouldn't have died...... anyway thought strange but might have been just a random thing so restarted the game and loaded my CASM save and headed back to FI and saved just outside headed back killed about half again and the game crashed again still had plenty of health can't remember if the gun was green that time because it quickly when't black and the stopped working box come up the next time i started it up i loaded the new save just outside FI but the same thing happened so there must be a problem with the mods for FI so decided to remove the talon and raider parts and just left the enclave, reloaded the save outside FI but it crashed so loaded the one before near megaton waited 3 days and headed back and crash so reloaded save near megaton, waited 7 days just to be sure and headed back, got there kicked a$$ and started looting but half way through looting crash

so thought about jumping off something tall but decided to have another look around for help and found the FOOK forums was working and found a post about using fo3edit to create a merged patch so thought i would give it a go, created one ticked the box in fomm and loaded........ crash on start-up on the first slide so ctrl, alt del back to windows reloaded firefox and all my pages from before clicked the FOOK forum tab and it's gone down again so closed firefox and remembered reading something about after making a merged patch running master update so did that and tried again......... crash so loaded firefox up again clinked the fallout nexus tab and looked at getting the unofficial patch downloaded that installed it and run the game it loaded so tried my save but no good so tried to start a new game, CRASH! and thats where i am now....... i'm hopeing someone can help me as it's ages till New Vagas come's out and i need my wasteland fix but the unmodded game is just not enough anymore

Please somebody end this nightmare :fallout:

1.Are you using FOSE. 2. Are you using FOOK 1.1 Beta or 1.1 Beta 2? 3. i had the same problem heading to tennpenny tower it would crash in the same spot,(Something about a memory dump) 4.FOOK is know to have problems with non FOOK followers. I had the new clover follower and she was dumber than normal. I tried FOOK 2 1.1 and 1.1 beta both and could not get it to run stable.SO i did a complet uninstall(By complete i mean removing all traces of Fallout and going to C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks0 and deleting the enitre Bethesda Softworks folder.(Beause when you uninstall Fallout it ONLY removes what is need to launch it. I stopped usinf the new fook and went and found the original fook and mmm.Now i have a crash free game.Well i hope this sheds some light on you problem. China

Yes i have fose the latest version as of about a week ago and i'm using FOOK2 1.1 beta2, i was thinking a reinstall was going to be the only way round it :( oh well if its got to be done and all that :) what is the best way to get things running smoothly? would it be best to install all other mods before FOOK2 or FOOK first and other mods after it? also do i need the unofical patch because that was when the real problems started than and doing a merged patch it was running ok not perfect but a crash every hour or so is much better than not even being able to start the game in the first place

FOOK has Phalanx built into it, which is an overhaul of all the vanilla followers. If you have any other mod loaded that modifies a vanilla follower (like Butch, Clover, etc.) then you are asking for problems. Run Fo3Edit and look at the 'Non-Player Character' node to see which other mod is trying to modify Butch.

it wasn't just butch it was all of the standard followers it affected sorry i forgot to say, i have since reinstalled the game and have done about 4 hours in the stock game and have now started to add mods and so far all is great i used FOMM to make fomods and have the following mods installed

next up a few more mods and then FOOK2, i'm hoping i can get FOOK running because it make's the game so much better but atleast the other mods are running without issue if it come's to it i will have to wait for a newer build of FOOK2 or post something on the FOOK thread but i want to get the other mods running before all that

the strange thing is that it is all working so well and i haven't done masterupdate or merged patch and no unofficial patch the only thing's i have done is removed the ram limit turned off HDR and auto saves and thats about it :confused: but hey it's working like a dream at the mo so can't complain :celebrate:

Yes. FOMODs are basically renamed 7zip files, so you could even unpack them in theory.

:banghead: AAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH :banghead: after wasting all weekend and all of today i'm still nowhere near a stable load order and i haven't even installed FOOK2 yet
I have been using FOMM to install everything and have used the following to try to get things running for more than 30 mins (that's 30 mins max) i have even had issues (crashes and lock-ups) during the birth, during the party, putting my fists up to fight butch outside the classroom, killing guards on the way to the overseers office (the 2 on the lower level by the door to the vault exit) and again that's before leaving the vault

i have also been using wrye bash 4 fallout, fo3edit (fo3edit/masterupdate/masterestore) and BOSS with no luck in fact it's worse when i have a merged/bashed patch

i am seriously pulling my hair out here guys, so much so i think i will be bald by the end of the week, i love this game it takes me away from the day to day **** but after 1000+ in the game on the 360 i still wanted more so i decided to get the pc version after looking for months at all the cool mods and enhancements, i am good with pc's but this is my very first time with a game that uses mods the closest i got was installing maps for call of duty but this is way harder for me to get to grips with, please can somebody teach me or something :fallout:

What I would advise is to install first the mods that changes most things in the game.
Before any other, you should install FOOK and see how the game run with it as it's an exhaustive overhaul of the original.
If I remember well, it's already including some of the mods you're using (like regulator overhaul) or similar mods to them (Fellout ?).

I've done it :celebrate: after a few more reinstalls and hours of messing around with different things i finally have a stable game, i'm 80 hours into a new game and so far only about 4 lock-ups and they were all doing the same thing and all but one in the dalls mods and repairing things from them mods, but luckly CASM to the rescue and in total have lost about 15mins of game time so not bad at all :goodjob:

do have one thing i'm not that sure about and that's point lookout, basicly i goto the location where the boat's ment to be and well it's not, the clutter and boxes on the dock look about right and the punga fruits are with traiders but no boat :unsure2: oh well i'm guessing it's a fook dik thing but not too worried at the moment still got loads of things to do and places to visit and shed loads of mods to try

basicly i used FOMM to create a FOMOD file for all the mods i have, i started off with just the basics, pipboy pda and CASM & levelers trailer, then run around for an hour or so to see if things were ok then added the mods above one by one by using FOMM to install the mod then using BOSS to sort then master updating then loading the game with FOMM, happy day's, i've done anchorage, the pit and mothership zeta all with out a problem, must say though using the bag of holding to get the winter armour from anchorage was so much easier that the pile the body's up way i used to have to do it on the 360 only problem i had was i couldn't get the shock sward the way i used to on the 360, i tried shooting it from his hand with everything, i even sort of cheated a tiny bit by using the test boxes on fook to grab some more powerful weapons but couldn't do it... he must have the dam thing super glued to his hand lol

anyway i'm off to try to get a few more mods loaded and working, cheers for the advice guys :fallout:

I think with Fook you can go into the 'O'ptions menu and start the Point lookout Quest. Then the boat will appear. There's another way too, that was posted here a few days ago - in a 'spoiler block'.

So nothing is broken ;)
