Mods for an overhaul experience

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 10:09 pm

I want to play Fallout 3 again, but the first time I played I did not use any mods, and I found the game a bit too easy and bland. I'm looking for mods which really overhaul the experience of the game, plus make it more fun and challenging. So I'm looking for gameplay mods mainly. Any graphic enhancer mods would be great too, my computer won't slow down.

Thanks!

The most popular one is http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1100516-relz-fwe-fo3-wanderers-edition-40/(FWE), but I personally prefer http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1096923-relz-arwens-realism-tweaks-thread-no8/, along with other mods that she recommends on http://amito.freehostia.com/Fallout/FO-mods.htm, like real injuries/primary needs.

Very challenging indeed.

Arwen's does not add any new content to the game like weapons or armor or anything, it's purely gameplay tweaks. FWE adds a whole lot. It all comes down to what you're looking for. Both mods also attempt to achieve realism and better difficulty in different ways.

FWE on slightly easier settings will likely give you a feeling for what's to come with New Vegas' and the hardcoe mode. To make it really challenging, add FWE and Mart's Mutant Mod. You can change most settings right in the game, so it's not even an all-or-nothing deal.

Whether you're getting FWE or Arwen's or something else completely, Mart's Mutant Mod is a must.

Thank you. :) Are those mods you mentioned compatible with other mods so long as they don't change anything gameplay related? Say I want to install a new power armour model mod? Sorry I've been out of the mod loop for a while now.

With fwe you should be ok to install any power armor and weapon mod. I'm unsure of Arwens mod, having never used it.

Does FWE remove the whole Vault 101 Storyline, or does it merely skip the 'growing up in the vault' intro? I'd be interested to play FWE, but wouldn't want to remove Amata et al (and the chance to kill the overseer at the beginning, which I haven't done yet) from my game.

Aaah everything is working perfectly. Thanks. ^_^

Now I'll just get a revamped UI mod and try to figure out why my mouse speed is acting like it's on cocaine even though the setting is on 0 or 1.

 I was just downloading that!

EDIT: Installed using the FOMOD version (therefore I just chose the packaged RAR file in FOMM) but the in game UI is all the same. Nothing happened. :?:

There is no DarNifiedUIF3.esp in the mod list...

when installing the FOMOD version did you use package manager? did you activate the mod? you should get a message asking if you want to use DarNifieds fonts instead of vanilla, or something to that effect. as far as manual install, I'm not too sure on that.

EDIT: nevermind, I just saw your post in DarN's thread.
