Upgradeable housing mod?

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 6:14 pm

Hi. I'd just like to know if such a thing exists. I'm considering making one as my first serious crack at modding, but I don't want to retread something that's already been done well.

In case it's not clear, what I mean by upgradeable housing is: A house you can buy that starts out very basic and small, but can be improved and expanded incrementally by means of quests or cash. I've searched around here and the usual mod sites using "upgradeable" and "upgradable" as keywords with no success.

It's certainly not basic or small, but you might look into the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=502 Mod. It's got over 45 upgrades available and can become a *massive* house if you dump enough money into it.

And it's Mobile!!

Check it out.

While http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=1777 is a quest mod, it feature two house, with great oppartunites of upgrade, the first is an hlaalu house who start as a cosy but small one room to a vast, underground domain, filled with quite a number of discrete alvecove or hidden room, it upgrade with completed quest . the other is a run-down tower, when fully upgraded after a dozen of dedicated small quests i's a full fortified city of the size of Sadrith Mora. Numerous Great Houses's compound expansion are also customisable such as http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5730 , http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3118, Also try customisable as a keyword.

It's just like books, everything has been done the best you could do is put your own spin on it. Don't worry about making something that someone else has already made (as long as yours is different) There are hundreds of companion mods, and I am still making one for my first mod, just as there are hundreds of house mods (and probably a fair few upgradable houses) all that matters is that you make something that YOU are happy with and enjoy more then the other ones out there. If other people download it and are happy then great if they don't like it then who cares what they think, you made it and you like it and that is all that matters.

That's a sensible way of looking at it. Still, I'd be grateful if anyone would like to post information about other upgradeable or customizable housing mods--I can use them for reference and inspiration.

Thank you, Tizzo and Snakekurl, for the links and info.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4514 has a guildhall that lets you add on expansions.
