Survivalist's Rifle Sights

Post » Mon Aug 09, 2010 10:01 pm

So after running around in circle, climbing some rocks, enjoying the view and finding the bag, I finally get the Survivalist's Rifle. Yay! I equip it and aim down the sight and... and... and want do I see? The sights are messed up... The ring for the rear sight is missing and the front sight is not even properly aligned! Seriously what the hell is going at Obsidian? Nobody double check his work there? The model was done the night before going "gold" or what? A service rifle with different stats would have done the job if you guys were in such a hurry... I hope this will be patched (someday).

Edit: Well I'll be damn! Thanks for the clarification guys.

This wouldn't be patched because the design of that rifle was intentional.

You know, I was wondering about this myself, but I figured it was something along those lines. I don't mind it now haha.

The way I'm looking at it, you find a rifle at the top of a rock formation on a corpse that has become a skeleton over time........there's a good chance that rifle is going to have taken a little damage up to that point. I didn't find it too hard to aim though; I picked it up but had no ammo for it (lack of thought on my part) so when I got out of Zion I gave it a test run on Black Mountain; first shot from range I lined up and got a head shot on a super mutant, one hit kill. You basically have to just use the right sight post of the two and compensate the rest, not too hard once you get used to it.

One thing I'm finding that I'm rather curious about is the ammo for that thing has a 0.00 weight.............typically I wouldn't at all be confused about it, but I play on hardcoe, so EVERYTHING has weight. I'm wondering if it has to do with my Pack Rat perk, but yeah, weightless ammo in hardcoe ups the value of that thing; I've also never used the 12.7 or whatever it is ammo type weapons prior to this one; they're just all so ugly <.<

I can answer that one, anything with a WGT of <0.01 will display as 0.00 due to rounding by the display mechanics. It will still have that small weight, though, much like large quantities of Lead add a considerable amount of WGT. Truly weightless items have a displayed weight of --, such as primers or cases/hulls.
