If you just had amazing memories of the best video game you ever played in your life, then you see my point. This didnt really happen with Oblivion. I have 5 reasons why:
1) Towns were too similar
2) People were not "mystical" (the dark elf voices for example)
3) Easy leveling (in morrowind, you had to spend a lot more time leveling to become a god, oblivion was always too easy)
4) No diverse quests (either 1) get this thing, 2) kill this guy, or 3) kill this guy and bring me this)
5) Architecture (Vivic was an amazing city. There were no amazing cities or buildings in oblivion)

I know exactly what you mean, but is this thread just for nostalgia?

Should prolly put this under TES general discussion, not Skyrim general discussion.

But I understand the feeling, happened to me with FO3, then NV disappointed me. :sadvaultboy:

so TES for you is Morrowind and you are disappointed in Oblivion becuase you wanted it like Morrowind, and you are hoping Skyrim is a Morrowind 2?

every TES game is different deal with it

I can almost guarantee you that there are people who played Oblivion as their first TES game who prefered its "feel." "Feel" is an incredibly subjective, ephemeral thing to try to pin down.

It's funny. When I think of the perfect TES experience, finding myself alone in a massive world where I'm completely free, I hear this:

We all have our different levels of nostalgia for each game. Not quite sure what you're trying to get across here.

1) I don't see how realism in the towns in a region makes it less of a game. The towns in Morrowind differed WAY too much for being of the same race and same island. All of Oblivion's cities had different architecture, I don't know how people get that they were the same....

2) I really don't get what you mean by "Mystical"

3) Morrowind was the easy leveling. Oblivion got harder has you leveled, not easier....

4) You just explained Morrowind's quests. Morrowind was always fetch quests or kill this person quests. Oblivion's quests are the ones that actually have you do different things. Oblivion had deep and diverse quests. I really think you mixing them up.

5)I didn't see what was so amazing over Vivec than other cities, it was just a multilayered city that was mostly inside. It was a cool city but I don't see how one city constitutes better architecture as a whole. I mean, the Ayleid cities had better architecture (from what you can see left of their outward architecture) than anything in Morrowind. The beautiful statues of Auriel, the amazing lattice work, the lighting from the Ayleid welkynd crystals.
The intricate locks on doors ( the only example you can actually interact with is during the mage's guild quest.)

My favorite music in TES is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba0h4Z21wT8.

I see your Morrowind theme reprised, and I raise you a Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim theme combined (very well done I must say, kudos to whoever made it):

That's your opinion, then. I personally abhorred the Ayleid dungeons. There was virtually no direct lighting - why were rooms illuminated by mysterious glows and fog objects? Why was the ambient lighting so bright? Why were the textures all muddy and covered in specular maps? :P

I will admit however, that I preferred the http://uesp.net/wiki/File:MW-Screenshot28.jpg.

My favorite Oblivion track is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gszfeS2B-U&feature=related, especially from 0:38 to 1:10. Wow! I imagine myself travelling with a friend through misty glades in the foothills of the mountains, under an overcast sky in the dead of winter.

Well obviously anything someone says is their opinion. Why does no one ever go "Oh that's just your opinion" when someone is talking about Morrowind as fact <_<

Also, I loved that track also. In fact, I loved all of Oblivion's tracks. I loved most of Morrowind's tracks too, there were a couple I didn't care for though. I loved Daggerfall's as well.

I prefer Oblivions "feel" over Morrowind. It's complete nostialgia obviously as it was my first TES game, but still i love it's music, the beautiful forests, the vibe it gives off.

... Glorious.

Dunno. People have lightened up on the Daggerfall opinions lately, though. Maybe in another few years we'll move on to amazing Oblivion versus Skyrim arguments. :P

Sorry OP, but your opinion is not the only one in the world nor is it any more correct than anyone else's.

With how Skyrim is turning out to be, that's inevitable.

Hell, even if Skyrim is to be a godsend transcending and becoming the best game of all time, there would still be arguments about how the previous game was better.

It's just inevitable.
