Help on Torchlight decision

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 7:11 pm

I've noticed that Microsoft is planning on releasing Torchlight on xlba. I'm a huge fan of these types of games, but my friend suggested just buying it on the computer and not waste my time with it on xbox. His one reason for this is mods for the game (like extra dungeons, weapons, etc.) He has not provided any other reason outside of this. Now would buying it on xbox (cheap, because I already have some mp on my account saved) be better than paying for it on the computer with mods as the only bonus? Is there something I could be missing if I buy it on xbox or is mods really the only thing worth getting it on the computer for? Thanks for the input and help.

That's a good question. There's not much of a performance issue on PC as it will run on just about anything. But I'd say if you're primarily a console player go ahead and get it for the console.

I don't even think there are many mods out there. If it's cheaper on the 360 then go with that.

I love Torchlight. I have it on PC but if it does come out on xbla, I just might get it on xbox as well. I don't know that there are many mods out for it (though I haven't really looked for them) so I don't know that that would really play a big factor. It is a point-and-click style rpg like Diablo so playing on a console without a mouse may cause it to not be quite the same.
Either way, fun game.

Not many mods for Torchlight?

There are literally thousands of Torchlight mods available (for the PC version of course)

hell even DarN made a UI mod for Torchlight.

I would definitely go for the PC version. It's easier to control (mouse > xbox controller) and it comes with a very easy to use toolkit for modding.

Thanks for all the input guys, I think I'm going to stick with the xbox release. It's cheap and I feel that my experience with the game won't be affected much by the choice.

Personally, I'd go with PC. Actually, I already have it on PC. Don't go with the Xbox version since you wont have access to mods and mod tools

Same thing with Unreal 3, would be nice to play it on the 360, but no mods. PS3 had mod capabilities though. PC had em, of course.
