Bit Defender antivirus

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 1:05 am

So, I'm looking for and willing to pay for an anti virus program, and I am enticed to buy Bit Defender 2011 based on http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/bitdefender-review.html review, but I would like to ask here if anyone has had experience with this program before. What are your thoughts? Thank you.

My thoughts are you should reconsider and install Microsoft Security Essentials, it's by far the best anti-virus system I've ever used and as a bonus it's free.

Horrible AV, slows even the best computers to a crawl.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Only NOD32 and Kaspersky are worth considering in the paid market. Avast! and MSE in the free.

I suggest that you should not choose BitDefender, because I notice two disadvantages with BitDefender's capability.

1 - has not web protection for spam
2 - software requirements is a little extreme

If I were you I wouldn't buy the first antivirus product you see, because what you see is what the company is expecting you to see. All I can say it's your decision. :)
This is entirely my own observation and I doubt that BitDefender have the same file search technique as Panda has for file archive with archives inside of an archive like this.

Spoiler
test.rar (50 files)
[rar archive]
test1.rar (10 files)
file01
file02
file03
[rar archive]

http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/downloads/ can search for every file and almost everything in that file archive of any known or unknown threats to your system. It also has an excellent free http://www.pandasecurity.com/activescan/index/?lang=en-US which is updated in real time. :user:

I agree with this. I have seem BitDefender bring any PC it was installed on to the ground. Go with NOD32 if you want to buy just an antivirus and if you want a firewall with it then Kaspersky.
