A strong Kaira Svanhit recalls training, a mentor, and an idol as an early teen. Pure, vivid realism, silver weapons or not.

An erroneous Grandmaster Jauffre speaks with Lord Talos leaving questions unanswered. Here within is where my hunger grows, quite a succulent feast you have prepared for us Danielle.

Grandmaster Jauffre's first line.
Knees aching, I lean forward, placing a single gold Septim on the Alter of Talos. Sunlight flows through the the stained glass window above me,

Close to the end.

Thanks for reading and for the corrections, Gwenearth.

Yes, Jauffre will be a bit more "conflicted" in my fanfic. :)

I only just noticed it now, but that should be Altar of Talos, not Alter.

Very sorry. I'm at home, on break from school, and I'm sick - like I haven't been since I was twelve. I promise I'll get to this as soon as I can breath again. :)

Allow me to apologize for starting this and not finishing it. I didn't realize the effect until I received an e-mail today from one my friends here asking what happened.

What happened is I got quite sick over Christmas, sick enough that I missed the first week of this Spring semester. When I did get back to school, I was behind on classwork and starting a very difficult and time consuming semester, which includes two writing classes and a real life publishing project that I must complete by the end of May (why is it good news always brings with it more work?). While I am usually am capable of juggling several projects at once, my poor health and academic commitments have not permitted me to return to this as quickly as I would have liked.

Am I abandoning this project? No. But I must set it aside for a bit, until I get back on my feet and complete a couple of other projects. Thus, I can make no promises about when a chapter will post. I have a draft written and several revised chapters, but even finding time for final editing and posting seems beyond the number of hours in a day. I hope to return before May, but I can promise nothing. As for closing the thread, let your forum rules govern. I will take no offense.

I appreciate the pms and e-mails and I apologize again for disappearing.

Hi Danielle! I have been wondering where you got off to. I am sorry about your illness. I hope you are better now. I am sure everyone understands your difficulties, and of course school and work come first!

I just found this thread. :celebration:

You had me at 'hello' - this is a very well written story and very creative in the setting of the characters and the MQ. Peleus, Acadian and SubRosa have commented on much the same things I noticed, so I'll let them speak for me. :spotted owl:

I do hope you regain your health soon, because your vision of Jauffre is extremely fascinating. I'm sure mine isn't as well developed!

I will watch for future updates. :icecream:

... I hope to return before May, but I can promise nothing ...

Well, I did not make it "before May" but I did make it by the end of May. Summer vacation is upon me, and I plan to resume this project this week, if there is still interest. If not (and it's entirely cool if there's not), I'll move onto other writing projects.

One of the things which has prevented me from posting the chapters I rewrote this spring - 20+ to date - is that this story is driven by a specific conclusion. As I noted in the first post, I wrote this as part of the NaNoWMo, pretty much on a lark. The goal in the original draft, written in November, was merely to get from the opening scene to the final conclusion.

However, when I started to rewrite it and post it, I realized there were some flaws in my plot - things that couldn't be fixed without changing something I'd already written. Posting a chapter here locked me into a plot decision and, in some cases, meant that I was bound by a weak or poorly made plot decision.

So since March and April, I've not been posting the chapters as I rewrote them. Instead, I've just saved them on my computer. A good thing, too, for several plot elements were changed to make the overall story tighter and more satisfying (at least for me).

Anyway, I'm proposing two chapters a week for the next 11 weeks. This should allow me to complete this project that I started last winter.

Again, my apologies for not completing it at the time.

~ Dani ~ :)
