Do Expansions add land mass?

Post » Tue Aug 24, 2010 6:55 am

Sorry noob here. Although I consider myself an ES fan and played Morrowind and Oblivion, I never bought any of the DLC or expansion packs. How do these work, do they add land mass?

Bloodmoon (MW) and Shivering Isles (OB) did. Can't remember about others...

We won't have expansions, typcially they do add landmasses quests, content, items. DLC's add landmasses also, but not to the existing world but beth stated they will not be doing Expansion packs anymore, It is a statement I wish they made a 180 on like they did the We have no plans to make modding availible on the Consoles if you want modding we suggest you buy the PC.

Typically expansions will. Fallout 3 DLC added some landmass, and were basically small expansions. The DLC for Oblivion didn't add landmass, but did add homes or new dungeons to explore.

It depends. All MW expansions added land mass, and SI for Oblivion added land mass, but OB also had alot of other DLC that didn't add land like Knights of the Nine. I hope they add land mass and make proper expansions. We don't know how they plan to do it for Skyrim.

That doesn't mean that there will not be additional land masses. Bethesda compared the development between Oblivion DLC's and Fallout 3 DLC's and preferred the structure of DLC's in Fallout 3 DLC's.

As you know many of the Fallout 3 DLC's added aditional land masses and interiors from the Mother Ship Zeta to Point Lookout.

Where's the link to confirm that they won't have expansions? This might be semantics confusion as many didn't consider Shivering Isles an "expansion".

I specifically remember reading an interview where Todd quipped about DLC for Skyrim and given the success of other DLC for OB and FO3, I highly doubt they would make a statement saying they wouldn't be creating DLC anymore. Skyrim will have DLC, no doubt about it.

they didn't say they were not doing any more expansions, they said they were not going to do big ones like SI, which I intrept to mean the DLC will not be adding any landmass, but will be adding things along the line of KoN style content. I guess it means more DLC's that add more weapons and armor and other content, but I really am not pleased by any news I am hearing about the map and the possibility of expanded landmass.

btw, that last part, did they say that they will be bringing modded content to consoles some time receantly? that what I intrepreted that last part to mean.

Swim across the sea, take a boat, speak to an NPC to teleport - at least that's the way it worked in MW and OB.

there is usually some kind of link; a person you talk to, a door that you activate, that will (essentially) teleport you or lead you to a way that transitions you to the new landmass. with the exception of MW, the expanded land masses are typically not linked to the original land mass.

It would be nice if they made expansions (But they said that they have no intrest in it)
If they make any DLCs i hope they'll be a bit bigger or atleast a long quest. Take ''Dead Money'' for example, great DLC, took some hours to complete.

When did they release the new info against modding on consoles?
