Looking for a simple object that can hold an ability

Post » Sat Aug 28, 2010 5:04 am

In one of my mod projects (the light-related one you made have read about a few pages back), I need to use a bunch of actors so that I can apply abilities to them. Now these actors don't need to fulfill any other role, so I don't need a fancy 3d model, texture, skeleton, AI, dismemberment compatibility, etc. I intend to make them extremely small and/or invisible. Naturally I don't want to bog down a person's game, so I'm looking for the simplest object possible. Anybody have any suggestions for such an actor?

Or, is there any other kind of object that I'm not aware of that can hold an ability?

I feel confused.

Maybe you could describe what it is exactly that you need to do, what you need to accomplish.

Ha, ok. Lemme try that again. :)

I'm looking for an actor that I can add an ability to. I'm going to have 20 of these actors near the player at the same time, so to save computing power, I want to use the simplest actors I can find. In the meantime I'm using tiny molerats, but if possible I'd like to use a simpler creature - maybe one with less polys, less complicated skeleton, less AI, that sort of thing. Can you think of any actor in the GECK that's like that?

Mole rat seems like a good choice for something like that, if you had to do it that way.

I did a quick test with the turrets. Seems pretty good. Thanks for the tip.
