Custom NPC faces and skin color

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 4:17 am

So I tailored up 14 NPC's and made custom faces and skin color for all of them, the faces work find however the skin doesn't stick and everyone's pasty white. I have like 3 Asians, 1 AfricanAmer., 1 Mexican, and some tan boys, all showing whiter then hell.

Any ideas?

I played with the CharGen check box but didn't see any change.

This is an error that occurs when your mod file is an esp. As far as I have ever heard, simply making your mod an esm fixes this. So, if you need it an esp to develop and test, ignore this issue, then before releasing it make it an esm and make sure that fixes it.

You will want to do this, for sure:

open file C:\Documents and Settings\Me\My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\FALLOUT.INI

in the [General] section somewhere, add this:

bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1

and also. it is as Gunmaster says - - .esp files which hold the definition of a new NPC will need to be used as .esms to make skin color look right.

Another thing you can do is to make the ESM with the NPC's separate, and add it as master to the ESP. This is what I've done for my Rangers mod (http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/120097-reillys-rangers-expanded/page__view__findpost__p__2147522), and it's pretty painless since you rarely need to change NPC faces.

I had this same problem... and have actually been using this particular topic to fix it... but now I've hit the end of my line.

Why? Because unfortunately... I don't know how to make an ESM out of an ESP... and apparently everyone but me does! T_T

1. Download http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640 and install http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640 then open it.

2. Click on "Plugin Editor".

3. Go to File>Open and find the .esp file you want to convert to an .esm.

4. Go to Spells>Make esm and save the new file to the desired location.

Voila. You now have a new .esm file ready to be used.
