Favorite Daggerfall dungeon

What's your favorite? Mine is either Scourg Barrow or Castle Llugwych. They're both just very unique and well-crafted to really feel like a powerful necromancer's hideout and a majestic and foreboding castle.

I haven't actually been inside, but looking at screenshots I'd say Direnni Tower looks like the most interesting one I've seen. Scourg Barrow is probably the best dungeon I've actually been in.

School needs to slow down so I can pick up Daggerfall again.

Scourg Barrow is awesome, especially the Rift.
Shedungent is awesome simply for the music. And the occupant is entertaining as well.

There are many cool dungeon blocks that are entertaining. I like the one with the huge room with the tower in the middle. And the one with the big pyramidal altar.

I pretty much enjoy any Main Quest dungeon, becuase they're fairly extensive but also home to plenty of landmarks and varied architecture. Of these, my favorites must be Shedungent (pretty fun to navigate not to mention the awesome music), Scourg Barrow ("You have gone too far!"), Direnni Tower (massive Z-axis emphasis is fun), and Orsinium (Orcs are just fun to fight).

In regards to regular dungeons, I've always enjoyed Castle Necromoghan Freeman, if only because I've been sent there so many times I know it all-too well.

Shedungent is awesome simply for the music. And the occupant is entertaining as well.

I love that song. Daggerfall's dungeons are great in terms of ambience but that monotonous dungeon music can get boring after a while. This song is practically the opposite, makes you feel like you're on a great Crusade through the dungeon as it sprawls out in front of you.

..Scourg Barrow ("You have gone too far!")

Clearly, I have missed some stuff in Scourg Barrow. WTF?

MRNot: IIRC, turning right at the T-junction where you'd normally turn left to go into the bat cave (;)) will lead you to the Rift.

I like Direnni Tower, Castle Faallem (sp?), the Mantellan Crux! Not Lysandus' Tomb.

Heh, besides the dreaded shop/tavern song, that's probably the song I dislike in the game the most. And is the only song in the game that made me turn off the music, cause listening to that 60 second loop over and over the hours I spend there would drive me nuts, while the tavern song just play while I'm indoors for a brief moment.

My favorite dungeon song in the game is the one that plays when you start in Privateer's Hold. Sometimes I would just start the game and wait until the good stuff starts at 2:30 into the song, and then quit after it :P

While I don't remember knowing which way was which back in the day (I'm fairly certain I DID manage to find the necromancer back then, but it's been a very long time), this time around, I still used my tried & true (follow the right wall) method, and of course, that took me hours & hours longer than had I tried the once in a while (follow the left wall) method. I still don't know if I know for sure what is meant by "the Rift," but I suspect I do. The thing that really got me with StoneFrog's post was the "You've gone too far!" quote.. I think I'm still missing something..

Castle Necromoghan

The ridiculous amount of werewolves makes this the best.

It's from Princess Morgiah (I believe) right before she sends you off to the Barrow. Something along the lines of, "Oh, and if you see the rift, you have gone too far!"

Gotcha.. I have probably forgotten lots of little details like that from conversations with unique NPCs (perhaps because you get so many other details repeated in the randomly generated quests, that you start to glaze over?)

They were all randomized once during the games creation. (Except MQ dungeons. (Except the ones for Cyndassa's and Lhotun's quest as they are randomly generated)

For example, Ruins of Cosh hall will be the same in your game as it is in mine. (How do you get there anyway? Can you get a map or do you have to explore to find it?)

Hm... Did you try using a levitation spell? Haven't played DF in a while, isn't that the dungeon on Cybiades? I think you can get there on your horse, but it will take a while.

Castle Llugwych. It's rockin'. There are some great custom areas in there too.

I've just stumbled across a very impressive (and rather small^^) random dungeon named the tower of kheghte in sentinel. once you get in, you find yourself in a really huge hall, which I never encountered before. nice experimentations with levitation were possible and on my run, full of lichs (and lichs are very funny as long as you have 100% spell absorption ;) )

Definitely not Direnni Tower. Medora could at least do something with the residents that lives there. <_<

It's fun to climb to the top of it (the exterior) and see how many jumps it takes for you to die. :)
