Resistance vs/or Security

Post » Fri Sep 03, 2010 9:26 am

The Ark,designed to house 5.000 rich and famous, now has 50.000 of all classes of people...

[Take notice that i am a Resistance guy,i consider myself a cliche/a Freedom Fighter (to the end ;) ) ,so this my personal view from the Resistance only perspective]

So i am wondering mostly, how much someone cares about their story?
It's just a game,no doubt, not that important but since we got time in our hands share your thoughts with mine if you like :)

Fact 1 : The Ark is an island created by while its wealthy patrons built a recreational paradise (http://www.brinkthegame.com/ark/island/)

Fact 2 : The Ark was a floating five star eco-resort and R&D eco-science park and Security was there to only perform risk management and VIP protection duties (http://www.brinkthegame.com/ark/security/)

Fact 3 : The Ark has lost contact with what remained of the mainland and exists in total isolation (http://www.brinkthegame.com/ark/island/)

And so the Resistance (refugees that came, mostly, later than the rich in the Ark) questions begin :

Question 1 : Are the Ark's Founders really doing all they can to re-establish contact with the outside world?

Question 2 : Why are only the Guests on rationed water?

Question 3 : If their work keeps the Ark afloat, why are they second class citizens?

Question 4 : Why they are not allowed to use the Ark's dwindling resources to reach whatever's left of the World? (All 4 questions http://www.brinkthegame.com/ark/resistance/)

Synopsis :

From all facts my brain computes like that, the rich were in Ark before me,that means they had access to things and intel from the scientists.
The present state is not different from a Castle that has it's poor workers around it.
If they don't hide anything, they should be able to answer these 4 questions,no?Not only they don't answer but they contain us like animals in a cage.
"Something is rotten in the state of denmark" comrades. The Security guys fell to temptation, why should they hunger like us?
They thought "Grab some authority and fight for false ideals but with full belly at least".

So,authority corrupts in the end,you can't ask peace by raging war,by having 2 classes of citizens. We want the truth!!!

I guess i'm taking it a step further, apart from the looks/appearance,why do you choose Security or Resistance?

I enjoy Resistance because I like being the underdogs or the makeshift military force that don't have great fire power but can use anything they can find as a weapon. Kind of like the Vietcong.

OP you missed the fun fact where there hasn't been any radio communication (or any) with the outside world for 15-20. Seems a waste of valuable resources to search for what probably isn't there.

For the most part I'm picking resistance largely due to stylistic reasons, I like the whole rag tag rusty armor and guns look. I'm also usually a fan of the underdogs, though until I've actually played through the campaign I can't exactly say I like them based on their actions and ideals; as they are, for the most part, unknown

I believe that somewhere it states that the security is told that the resistance is a bunch of terrorists and only doing harm for the people.
Somewhat like how German and Russian soldiers in WW2 were constantly told of how the other was so horrible.
So it's possible that the Security truly believe they are doing good.

The poll is relative to the title but i made it on purpose to be different. On first thought u'll go "oh,again?!?",but if u enter, hehe.

Well i would love a discussion about it nevertheless or not,the poll is enough just to get a glimpse of your thoughts.

"In a war of ideas it is people who get killed.(Stanislaw Lec)"
We tend to get idealistic after some time.Idealism is something close-minded if u think it over.
Creating the picture that we need someone to help us,to guide us in our life is not hard, just plant fear.

So with this little chain u create easy kinds of authority to control ppl.
Of course on the other hand, when we the people have too much freedom we over do it,we cross the lines. The lines that seperate our own good from the common good.
That line should not exist, our own good is the common good, there is no spoon...ehm,there is no seperation, there shouldn't be at least.

Hm,i go to far?Well, just thinking cause when the game will be released i won't be thinking u know? :)

And in the end a 3rd party (the Polish people) payed the price, found their selves in between.

Here the refugees are in the middle, they also have to choose side, like it or not.Hm...

"The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it." Ayn Rand, one of my favorites.

I am for neither, one is a Liberal ideal style utopia, the other is a bunch of communists believing refugees.

But if you are playing this game, you will be forced to choose a side until you decide to switch. No going rogue.
IRL, it goes the same way. Most people who are from communist nations don't know why communism is bad.
Guess you could say the same thing about democracy.

So I wouldn't exactly say that you're the only one who doesn't agree with the main motives.
Everyone has their opinion, I suppose.

yes that is true, once I see the ending, i will more than likely take a side, and it will probably be security.
