Can't get Blood&Mud Working

Hi! The topic says it all. Otherwise, ATM my game is working like a charm, but when I installed B&M, it would CTD whenever I load a game. I deactivated Open Cities and now I'm able to play (probably OC CTD'd the game because the faulty Bravil is in the same worldspace), but Bravil is still not right. I can't open the city gate, instead I can just walk through it. Inside, all of the buildings are missing textures, I can't enter any buildings, etc. I've reloaded it once, reinstalled it several times, tried to mess with load orders (by default I use BOSS) and install orders from Wrye Bash (I've installed it with BAIN). Am I missing an ESM or something, cause this is just plain weird. Oh, and I have ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated and never had problems like this before. Load & install orders follow..

E: I'm aware that I haven't installed a couple of compatibility patches for B&M and other mods, but I've tried that already (FCOM, UL, AWLS). It shouldn't have any effect with the mod working or not though, should it?

No. There is no "faulty" Bravil. If it CTD'd your game, you simply didn't install it right. Probably left out the ESM file that goes with Open Cities.

Missing meshes and textures are an entirely different matter which would indicate you didn't have the B&M resources properly installed. Maybe they're not sorted properly in the archive you used for BAIN?

I don't know why, but Open Cities works perfectly for me, until I install B&M (CTDs). And I'm sure Open Cities.esm was always enabled. Uninstalling B&M resolves the issue, so the CTDs must have something to do with these mods. Note that I'm in no way blaming OC for this or anything, the mod is awesome. Bad file structure shouldn't be the culprit either, it's just a simple ~290 Mb (uncompressed) sized .7z-package with following folders:

-meshes
-sound
-textures
-video
-blood&mud.esp

+ readme & pics

E: By "faulty Bravil" I meant the not-working B&M Bravil, not the OC Bravil, which is fine. :)

Make sure when you install it that the load order is also correct. If B&M ends up out of order and you're also trying to use the OC B&M setup for Bravil, it's possible the mods are no longer in the correct load order and that can cause CTDs.

I re-ordered the mod list every time with BOSS after installing B&M. Even tried moving the mod all the way up or to the bottom of the list. I was trying to use the OC Full + Leyawiin Reborn + B&M.esp, since I'm also using LR. Well, this mod probably would've bogged down my system to a crawl with RAEWD, QTP3, OC and whatnot installed, I hear that it's also quite resource intensive. :flamethrower:

Yes, B&M is very resource intensive, especially in combination with UL Bravil Barrowfields. It sounds like you'll probably just need to decide which mod you want more at this point. Your PC may not be up to the task of handling everything in Bravil this way.

And UL's on the list too. :) I do have a fairly powerful PC though, 4 gigs of ram, HD 5850, phenom II x4 965be 3,8GHz. But Oblivion being an old game..well, you know :foodndrink: B&M's definitely the one which is going to be left out, I just thought that I'd give it a try. Curious though that I can't get it working at all.

I do not see how regular B&M would work with OC because OC moves the cities in to the general worldspace...

OC is modular, so it would be possible to have all other cities open and the b&m Bravil closed. And Open Cities contains a compatibility patch for B&M to make it open too. In any case, I tried B&M with OC turn off and didn't manage to get it working. I'll probably give the OMOD version a try when I've got the time. Thanks for the suggestions!

Do you have the correct UL patches for it? I have not seen it in your LO, so I do not know how you are on that end, but if you are not using the OC version of Bravil, then, with the right patches, you should be able to get B&M Bravil to work. Walking through them sounds like the wrong worldspace, I think. It sounds like you left the OC version there or something...

When I first installed B&M, I installed all the UL compatibility mods, but only for the first time because AFAIK the UL patches should only affect LOD and landscape outside Bravil. I'm pretty sure I didn't leave any OC files since I've installed it with BAIN, and uninstalling it SHOULD remove everything related to it. Oh well..I've spent the last couple of days just re-installing mods and debugging, I'll probably give it a rest for a while. I'm not sure if you remember, but about a week or two ago I posted about not getting my game working after reformatting Windows. I decided to reinstall everything from scratch and your TESIV:POSItive -site has been of HUGE help, especially with using BAIN and such, so thank you very much for that! :clap:
