So, I'm getting this thing where randomly while either saving a game or adding a map marker I can only type as if my caps lock (or shift) key is pressed. So instead of, say, 999, I'd get (((. There seems to be no way to get the default symbol to show up including hitting the caps lock or shift keys. This is a first time thing for me, after playing with my newest mod build, which makes me suspect it is mod related. Restarting the game seems to fix it -- at least until it happens again. I can't seem to figure out any obvious circumstance that triggers it.

Perhaps post your mod list? If other people have gotten that bug, perhaps someone will recognize a mod in common and you can at least nail down the culprit.
Edit: Have you been doing anything outside of the game before a session when this happens? Cleaned a save, merged a list, use some tool...?

I have the same thing happen to me but I haven't got a clue what's causing it. Pretty harmless little bug though all it affects is the naming, so I wouldn't wprry about saving.
I'm probably a bit paranoid about save corruption considering MW's known issues.

EDIT: Oh, to answer your second question, although I do game maintenance from time to time such as cleaning a save, etc, it doesn't seem to be related to that as it definitely happens when I've done nothing like that.

Maybe, you have "Sticky keys" enabled? Check the "Ease of Access Center" applet in Control Panel or press Shift key 5 times in a row.

This happens to me, as well. It seems to happen if I was holding the shift key just before opening a menu, even after I've let it go. I suspect it's something to do with MWSE, but I really don't know. I always fix it by holding shift, typing something, and then letting go of shift. That resets it for me.
