Elder Scrolls Advertisemant

Post » Fri Sep 10, 2010 8:58 am

Five minutes ago I was watching an episode of Discovery Channel's "Cash Cab" game show when the camera took a shot outside at a bus driving the same speed as the cab with a huge Oblivion poster running the length of its body. I didn't know Bethesda did street advertisemant like this. So, what's the weirdest place you've ever seen an Elder Scrolls related advertisemant?

That must have been an old episode... Other than the internet, the only place I've seen an add for an Elder Scrolls game was on BNN's SqueezePlay.

I saw plenty of tv commercials for Oblivion but I think the weirdest I saw was when it was a show "brought to you by TESIV Oblivion" and in the corner of the screen was a little flaming "O" or some other little graphic... it was so long ago now.

EDIT: Though a close second would be this that I found a while back:

Nowhere. Very few people in my area are aware of TES, and perhaps two of them will acknowledge Daggerfall or Morrowind's existence. They say that they prefer Oblivion because Morrowind "is all text." :(

I was actually introduced to Oblivion by my friend. He didn't know what an rpg was, he called it "one of those stupid games that is actually really fun". I looked it up on the internet, and I've played lots of rpg's before this (I actually got The Quest on my iPod if anyone knows it, its a rip off of TES), and I loved the look of it. I've been playing Oblivion for 4 months now, but he stopped playing it right about when I got it.

Huh? From what I see on videos on YouTube, it draws inspiration from the Elder Scrolls series, but it is not a rip off. It has a close resemblance to the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpuTbxkaZ94&feature=search http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihj-wDJ3IJY&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNpl7ADHofs&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XGg4Z1xfJ4&feature=related.

I've never seen any advertisemants of Oblivion or any Bethesda games. Advertisemants for games in Quebec is found only in gaming magazines. On TV, they're pretty rare. Very few people around me have played any Elder Scrolls games.
And only my brothers and I have played Daggerfall.

I don't think I've ever seen advertising for TES, except for in gaming magazines and websites.

On the side of a bus when I went to London. The seat of my pants nearly fell out, I was amazed! We don't have advertising like that for videogames where I come from.

Yeah. I believe I learned about Myst IV: Revelation through an CNN article as well. They were hyping the game because back then it was one of the first games to use DVDs.

I have never seen an Elder Scrolls ad. It does not seem to be Bethesda's way.

My serious answer

Morrowind: Toonami when I was a teen. You know, the robot guy arguing with the female computer.

Oblivion: A gaming comic.
