Hi everyone,

Having loved Oblivion on Xbox 360, I have just decided to buy Morrowind for PC (my Xbox is not working at the moment).
I intend on playing the game vanilla to start with, and getting mods to improve the graphics soon after.

My computer is quite old (5 years to be precise), and has poor specs:

  • 512mb of RAM
  • AMD Athlon 2800 XP
  • ATI Radeon 9600 SE (basically a worse version of an already bad card)
  • Windows XP
  • 1680x1050 monitor

I gather that I should be able to run Morrowind at a decent resolution and framerate (true?), but I fear that the MGE and the plugins which use it (lighting effects etc.) will be too much for my poor old machine! However, looking at screenshots I realise the game doesn't look briliant nowadays! So, I was wondering if the various re-textures and re models and such (basically most mods in steps 8, 9, and 11 in http://morrowind2009.wordpress.com/, or equivalents suggested in this topic*), will work without the MGE? And will I need the MWSE and the mod manager?

*Better Bodies, Heads, Beasts etc., unofficial patches, Total re-texturings, new weapons etc.

Thanks for helping a newbie

Great little guide here. :)

Yes, it is. I just discovered it today thanks to Helena. This has got to be bumped every month or so to make sure it stays on our collective minds. :)

First of all, bumping this because it's very helpful.

Secondly, can I use this mod: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3060 in conjunction with Darknut's 1024 textures mod? I want darknuts armours in my game, but I also want the elbow and leg fix that I get from the 'Better Daedric Armor' mod. Is it possible?

If you like the Domina mesh (the link to Darknut's retextures has the clearest pictures of what you'll end up with) as many do, then ignore me completely and enjoy, just keep in mind that it replaces more that just the curiasses and you do have another option, which is...[/indent]
Avenger's http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=330
Much more subtle than Divine Domina. The meshes in this mod weren't made to look skin-tight, as the Domina mesh was, they were simply made to look like armor that is more comfortable for a woman to wear. A few meshes are reused several times, but there is more variety. If you plan to use a mod that adds unique female versions of armor, I believe this is your best choice.

That sounds perfect! But everytime I click on the download link it gives a white screen with small text that reads ""Session initialisation failed"

Can we get a mirror or rehost? It's not just that link either apparently it's the entire site. My favorite enchantment glow mod, that looked like calm cackles of electricity, is also hosted there and that doesn't work either. What's up?

Elricm has been down for quite a while now. Someone tried getting in touch, but without success so far.

I have Avengers Armor v1.1 (not sure if that was the final version) and Avengers Shirts. PM me and I can provide a link.

The license says: "Give credit to the people I've listed in the credits section, if you use their work for yourself."

That reads like it would be OK to publicly post with credit given, but I'm not totally comfortable about it, or I'd put it up on tesnexus or planetelderscrolls.

In need of a bump so it doesn't get lost.
